  • Can anyone who is a bit more technically minded comment on how this compares to the recent Aldi charger, or do they more or less do the same thing at this end of the market?

    • +5

      Same but different

    • -4

There are many similarities @danzha but the biggest difference is that we are an Australian company who backs our products with a 3 year warranty. The Aldi charger only had a 1 year warranty, which may speak to the quality and durability of components.

OMG, this old nugget…. "wE aRe aN AuStRaLiAn CoMpAnY!11!" No, you're not, you are just another Alibaba reseller/dropshitter…

Here you go, it's just a rebaded version of this charger

InB4: BuT OuRz iS rCm CeRtiFiEd!1!!

Yeah, good for you, it's not hard to get RCM certification. Send one in for testing, get it checked and then import as many as you like…

And I'm close to negging because it's a "pre-sale" just so you can get enough orders to fill a bulk order with the Chinese manufacturer. Added to that, we did a dance last time where you basically dodged around giving us your "best price" available from your Bunnings and eBay stores and offered up your most expensive purchasing option.

        • You'll find our head office on the Sunshine Coast, QLD, come and say hello to see how Australian we are! And you'll find our products sold through Bunnings, Mitre 10, Harvey Norman and more, so this is a good place to find reviews and verify that we stand by our 3-year warranties. If you don't feel comfortable buying direct through our pre-sale, just wait for the products to be listed through a retailer you trust, they'll be on our partner websites as soon as they arrive and the pre-sale ends.

            @SEVR:

You'll find our head office on the Sunshine Coast, QLD, come and say hello to see how Australian we are!

I'm not saying you are not "Australian", I am saying your product is not. You are just another Alibaba bulk buyer/dropshitter. You are just a middle man between me and the products sold on Alibaba/Aliexpress. You exist for no other reason than to inject yourself between the consumer and the manufacturer. Period. But I guess it doesn't get any more Australian than setting up a shitty online store, bulk buying from Alibaba and reselling for a HUGE profit… Make nothing, import everything… "i'M aN aUsTrALiAn BuSiNeSs!1!!"

And you'll find our products sold through Bunnings, Mitre 10, Harvey Norman and more

You are literally using their "marketplace" variations. I cannot find a single Bunnings, Mitre10, Hardly Normal, etc that actually stock your item. You are not being "sold" through these outlets, you are on their marketplace as a seller. So, no, they are not being sold "through" these places anymore than I can "sell" stuff through Scumtree or Fartbook and say "well, Facebook sells them…"

If you don't feel comfortable buying direct through our pre-sale

It's not "direct". You are a middle man making markups on other peoples products. I can buy "direct" off the manufacture in China and save about $150…

just wait for the products to be listed through a retailer you trust

Again, this is just YOU making a LISTING on their respective "marketplace". I cannot just go into a store and purchase it over the counter and go home.

they'll be on our partner websites

Oh, FFS, they are not "partners", they are "marketplaces". The only "partnership" here is them allowing you to give them money for using their website to sell your wares and you using their logo on your website.

@pegaxs: You keep getting me at 'dropshitter'. 🤣🤣🤣

            • @pegaxs: OK, but this is how manufacturing in China works. You either develop a product yourself, then find it (or a knockoff of it) on sites like Alibaba, or you source a product from China that's already available, do your due diligence, work with the manufacturer to adjust anything necessary to meet compliance requirements and quality control, package it, and import it.

Takes a lot to get a partnership to sell on any of the retailer marketplaces, they're very strict on who they allow to list products on there, including the compliance documents to ensure products meet Australian regulations. We've met in-person with each and every company in order to be approved to sell with them.

              • @SEVR:

OK, but this is how manufacturing in China works.

Yeah, you see, now you are just being condescending and talking to people like they are idiots. No one appreciates that and it's not endearing to your company image.

You either develop a product yourself, then find it (or a knockoff of it) on sites like Alibaba

Are you seriously suggesting that yours is the "genuine article" and that ALL these companies on Alibaba are ripping your development off??

or you source a product from China that's already available

Oh, so you are just the middle man adding a laying or cream to scrape off… The great Australian dream… Make nothing, produce nothing, develop nothing, just buy stock from China, set up a website, spend some money on marketing… "We'Re aN AuStRaLiAn CoMpAnY!11!!". No, you're a glorified dropshitter.

Takes a lot to get a partnership to sell on any of the retailer marketplaces…

LOL… ok, champ, so you signed up for an account and jumped some hoops… They are NOT selling or stocking your products, they are simply allowing you access to their "marketplace"… This isnt a "partnership". They are not investing in your company or solely trading your product only. You are nothing more than a glorified eBay seller. Nothing more.

    RCM certified?

    • Yes, all SEVR products are RCM compliant. RCM tick is on the product label.

  • @SEVR Does the X1 7kW Single Phase EV Charger support OCPP?

    https://sevr.au/product/x1/

    • At the moment only our X2 22kW charger supports OCPP.

      • Any plan to add OCPP to the X1 in the future? I actually much prefer the minimalist shape of the X1.

        • We will be launching new products later this year, but can't say too much about what they are just yet ;)

  • Plans on a 15a or 16a version?

Also wow the installer costs are so high for 7kw, are sparkies taking the piss? How much harder vs a normal power point are they to wire up?

    • We have a recommended installer network around Australia, you may like to fill out the form and let us recommend someone in your area https://sevr.au/find-an-installer/

    • Also wow the installer costs are so high for 7kw

Apart from charging speed is there any benefit of 7kw charger? (like efficiency)

      • Yes you're correct, generally wall chargers have better efficiency than portable chargers, on top of the faster charging speed. 7kW chargers like our X1 also have app integration, so you can easily schedule and control your charging from your phone. They can also be installed with a CT clamp, which monitors the electricity load at your property and automatically adapts how much the charger draws.

    • +2

Generally a powerpoint can be added to an existing circuit, whereas a 7kw charger requires a dedicated circuit - this means more labour, additional cabling and a new breaker (possibly more if they need to resize other breakers to fit in the panel).

I'm sure some installers are taking the piss however. The cost is highly dependent on your situation - mine cost about $200 as it was installed right next to my metre box. Others will be in the thousands if it's on the other side of the house, needs trenching, difficult access…etc.

      • Great answer, thanks so much 🙏

That was my point, I've had 2 quotes to install literally next to the meter box, both $1000+ for installation.

    Wow $25 off..

10% doesn't sound any better either

Last post was 40% off so not sure why this is being posted at 10% off.

Seems more like just using OzB for free adz.

        • The 40% sale was last year, for products we had in stock. The portable charger is a new line for us, so this pre-sale is the only discount planned.

          • +1

@SEVR: It's a fake sale though as shown by member Pegaxs above. Seen it a thousand times before, buy from Alibaba & jack the RRP then post free adz on our community website for sharing bargains.

Not really what this website is meant for because it's not a bargain & the votes reflect this.

I bought this for $179 and it's been rock solid. It has a 10A extender, but I have it on a 15A outlet and it's giving me 3.3kW. Kicks my EVSE one.

Guess this one was from an 'Australian' company with an ABN, similar to your set up, op. Lol
