Xero Accounting Software Replacement

Xero are upping their prices again. My plan is going up to $100pm from 1/07. Ouch!

I only run payroll for 2 employees… It's a massive waste of cash for what it is and I've had enough of the constant price rises.

Has anyone switched recently? Any good options with payroll included or added on?

Ive given MYOB a go but it's not for me unfortunately.

Try and give MYOB another crack, it is comparable to Xero and is only $9 per month for 24 months.

Or QuickBooks which might be even cheaper.

    • I'm thinking QBO is my best bet. It integrates with other software in my business and works out in my use case to $25pm (if I pay for a year up front). A quarter of what Xero charge. If the business was pumping I wouldn't mind so much but after payroll this is the single biggest expense of my service business. It outstrips insurance, software, equipment etc. Crazy.

Like others have mentioned Xero have got people in so deep they keep upping the price and there's not much you can do about it. I'm on year 2 of operating and it's an unfair price for our level of use and turnover. Time to jump ship.

Those cheap intro offers are working like a charm for Xero…

If it is any help Xero are changing the payroll inclusions in the next month or so. The Grow plan which will be $75 per month will include 2 employees, so may end up cheaper than you are paying now for Comprehensive (assuming it has all the features you need).

$75 is still a lot for just payroll when MYOB/QuickBooks do it for less than $20 per month.

      • That's just payroll, presumably OP wants to keep doing their accounting as well. For feature parity you're looking at more, although still cheaper than Xero. But Xero is still a big time saver that it comes down to how much time you want to spend on it.

Reckon is really the only one left not mentioned above.

not mentioned for a good reason…. Friends don't let friends use Reckon!

Yes the monthly subscription cost is getting ridiculous. Especially when I am using almost none of those new features. I'm mostly just processing the bank feeds + payroll / superannuation + BAS — don't need invoicing, timesheet nor many others that just got bundled in the ever rising cost.

Unfortunately I have 15 years of data in Xero + my accountant is working on those data once a year, making it difficult to just switch to a different software.

Unfortunately, this is their business model. I’m in a similar situation — frustrated with the price, as it was much cheaper when I first joined. But now I have so much data stored that it would be nearly impossible to leave.

Try the ATO website and maybe look for a payroll only product
