Da fuq are the margins on supplements with discounts like these?

Exactly…."whey protein prices have skyrocketed the past year"…. as if

      • +2

Considering how nearly all of their whey products sit in the neighbourhood of ~$90/kg and above they were probably insanely marked up to begin with, which is probably why they can afford to discount stuff so much.

        • +2

Anyone who pays $90 a kg is being lazy. That is now where 'nearly all whey products sit'. Optimum nutrition Gold Standard can be bought for ~$50 per kg any day of the week.

30% cashback for new Elite Supps customers and 20% for existing, just in case anyone gets caught out

    • Only 9.8% for emerald labs and lunar, which are probably their own in-house "generic" brands that most ozbargainers will be going for

2.27kg Gold Standard 100% Whey works out to about $93.92 with 30% sb (capped at $30), if they track and pay out. about $41.4/kg.

The low cap kind of kills the deal. It's below the threshold for free shipping. Good thing I noticed it before checking out with $300.

Seems like cashrewards is doing 20% uncapped. Even so it works out to be so-so. Barely beats getting coles creatine, and there's no risk of cashback (profanity).

  • This store vs bulknutrients.com.au?
some of their own branded supps don't even have nutrition/ingredients table

Think you've answered your own question then

Just a note, the cashback is capped at $30, so pay attention to that.

    • Yeh, after I purchased I realised. Not terrible outcome but did erode my expected 'savings'. Supps have really gone up a lot the last 5 years.

Also stacks with $20 cashback with $100 spend with Amex. Even with the ShopBack and Amex cashback, the proteins are still pricy IMO. Cheaper when Chemist Warehouse has 50% off

  • guys, Just a heads up, I have purchased off these guys in the past, I have serious issues with their quality control and customer support (which then makes me also suspicious about their actual products and ingredients in them). I purchased their home brand (emerald labs) protein powders. Majority came with the lid / (the paper cover on top of the opening) either fully open or partially open. meaning it could have been at worst case tampered with / other items put in etc , or at best it has been sitting in the warehouse in an open state which means the quality has already started to degrade a little as it is now a opened product and not air tight sealed product.

Their response was, oh that happens, dont worry about it. I have never ever purchased another protein product (I buy a tonne of protein, at any given time, i have about 200kg+ of different protein products in my house and my folks place, currently i have probably more like 300-400kg). I actually still have some protein containers that are several years old, none of the paper covers have ever ever popped open of their own accord.
