    • Edge-50-Neo: Motorola-AU need to sharpen their pencil with bigger retailer-rebate, lol. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/Edge%2050%20Neo%20t…

      Its 4300mAh is not suitable for HIGH-end users. Battery-APP will confirm battery-health & why more-frequent re-charge is needed as battery-degrade. I'm calling out all the paid-reviews, https://www.google.com/search?q=Edge-50-Neo+4300mah+battery+…

        • -1

$200 is UN-likely to be re-offer…freak of nature, lol. $300 ish clearance-price later this year?

I got the Edge 50 Neo and actually I find the battery great… and I watch usually 2 hours of videos on the way to work and back in the train and with quite good use I still have 50% left in the evening.

        • On the moto forums..

apparantly Turning NFC off can save upwards of 10-15 percent of ur juice..there seems to be a bug on latest firmware where NFC is draining juice when it doesnt need to be

          • +1

@reader64: Of course only turn on NFC when needed for Google Pay. It's better in term of security to turn off NFC. Even Bluetooth if people don't need it.

Set mobile network to 4G only can also save more battery when people are busy working for example or only set 5G when higher data speed is needed.

Set screen refresh rate to standard 60 Hz can also save more battery. Only set higher refresh rate when needed for certain games or other apps.

Imagine your family is trying to call you at 2 am, but your phone is in airplane mode. It must be super important or in emergency or really bad news like someone pass away etc.

Still going strong with my G84, but I'd probably be jumping on one of these if I was looking for a cost-effective upgrade.

Two small issues with the G84 I'd mention that may be issues on other Motos (I can't say I've looked into it):
    * Camera: The main one that people mention. I found that installing third-party GCam MGC 8.9 works well enough. Twist-twist or double-power-button from a locked screen don't unlock the phone to use the app though (unlike the Moto camera app). This seems to be a limitation that Motorola were aware of but had no plans to fix (iirc from a Reddit thread I found).
    * Google maps pinch zooming: Slow and chuggy. Seems to be some pixel/dpi resolution issue (iirc from a forum/thread). Motorola apparently needs to fix it. However, double-tapping on google maps and then swiping up or down (to zoom) works flawlessy.

Apart from these minor issues, the phone has met my needs!

    • Same. Agree 100%

    • +1

      Why not share a link-> 'iirc from a Reddit/forums' ?

Motorola's clearance-prices will compensate all your problems…except those who're willing to pay flagship-prices.

      • Why not share a link-> 'iirc from a Reddit/forums' ?

I don't have the links handy, unfortunately; looked at these issues about 6 months ago.

    • I used my google maps on my current moto g54 the otherday as well, it lags so much in gps mode for driving??¿ but system like notifications etc was running fine.

      • Yeah the only solution I can offer is to do the double tap + up/down method.

    • +3

I grabbed a G84 during one of the sales and agreed with you. Was meant to be a temporary phone but it does everything I need well apart from taking decent pics.

Gcam is a must, as the factory camera app is terrible quality. Even with Gcam it's still limited by the hardware but usable.

EDIT: The battery/battery usage has been great on it too. 5000mah and no draining issues.

      • Would you be so kind to share what version of the Gcam you managed to get to work with the G84? And where did you get it from? I seem to have trouble finding a working one, or maybe I'm just not looking from the right place?

  • What time code active ?

  • -3

Bought Motorola G75 here two months ago. The battery only lasts for a day or two at most with moderate to minimal use. Is there something wrong with it?

  • Help me out, which one would the missus prefer? She had a Samsung A72 but it died. Looking for a replacement. Thanks!

  • +2

Looking for a backup phone that has Esim. $294.30 seems a bit too high, are there any other recommendations?

  • Man just ordered a g54 yesterday for 235. Grrrr

    • -1

Please hand in your Ozbargain membership.

  • good price

  • Has anyone gone to the g75 from the g54. Currently have the g54 but the camera is horrible in low light. I know this still a budget/mid phone but hoping the new Sony sensor is slightly better before I pull the pin (wireless charging be nice too)

    • +5

I went from g54 to galaxy a35 and now to g75. Camera is better than g54. Especially at night time. But still camera UI is buggy and take ages if you change modes. And due low storage speed, it takes some time to save photos. I think it is across all Motorola which are at midrange price. But it is an upgrade in all aspects compared to g54.

      • G54 & A35 isn't that old, how come you're going through so many phones?

        • +1

I needed better camera and switched to A35. But processor in A35 was nightmare. Phone heated up quickly and battery life wasn't good at all even with 5000 mAh battery. I sold it on Facebook for $5 less than I bought it for. And got G75. Which has same processing power as A35 but no heating issues. Plus wireless charging is a bonus. Motorola is good with software updates recently and already got Android 15 on G75. With software updates schedule same as Samsung (even better with bimonthly security updates on Motorola).

          • @pandyakavit: I wonder if turning off 5G would have helped the A35 from heating up & better battery life?

            • +1

@WatchNerd: I never turned on 5G. I don't play games on phone. Even browsing for 20 minutes on brave or Chrome would make it heat up. Going though different forums, it is the Exynos processor issue. A54 had same heating issues and used same processor.

    • Thinking about the same upgrade. How's the durability of the phone ( g75 ?).

G54 has been a brick for me. Is g75 almost the same?

      • Same. Accidentally dropped it in salt Walter and still works after getting warning about water detected in USB port. Warning went away after 3 days. Only thing I miss about G54 was that it was compact. G75 is quite large. Also, it is hard to find good case for this phone as it is not available worldwide.

  • Is it better than the p30pro I got 5years ago?

    • 5 yrs is a long time for mobile technology. But, if you don't need the features, why pay for it?

      • Not the same guy, but because my phone has a dying battery and there's no more genuine replacement parts, and any parts replacement nowadays now needs heat and glue gun. There's also software issues as well with modern apps, but thankfully, this isn't as bad as Android is far more mature now, and my work flow uses app from a decade ago.

I would love to never "upgrade,' I genuinely hate the design language of most new phones I came across. Everything is form over function.

  • +1

These look mega tempting! Is 6.3" considered towards the smaller end of the screen size spectrum nowadays? I really want something that's pocketable and nice to hold.

  • Mates, which one is the cheapest option to give to mother on mother's day. She just watches YouTube or do video calls. No other requirements, Oppo user : will she be able to switch easily ( like using the buttons and all )

    • +1

G75 fits the requirements really well, 5 years of OS updates and 6 years security updates as well so she will be able to use it for quite a number of years - comes with a case as well.

  • +1

I bought the G75 fairly recently to act as a 4g/5g modem on an upcoming holiday, I'm pleasantly surprised at how good this phone actually is especially at this price point.

  • Any deals on the 50 pro?

  • I know it could get cheaper come EOFY but I need a new phone now and have had my eye on the Neo. Purchased!

  • +1

The Motorola Edge 50 is $449 at JB HiFi at the moment, and will reduce to $419 with the new Perks offer.

For comparison purposes with the 50 Neo.

  • G75 specs look better than the neo but neo pricier to the tune of almost double. What am I reading wrong? Are the differences really that many (and no sd card)?

    • Main differences would be the processor (SD6 Gen3 vs D7300) and the screen (IPS vs OLED).

    • Edge-50-Neo is yet to be heavily-discounted -> 'neo pricier to the tune of almost double'

      256Gb internal-storage & faster-speed overcome-> 'no sd card'

      G75 specs look better

Maybe? For each of the features, compare their spec. @ https://www.notebookcheck.net/Motorola-Edge-50-Neo-smartphon…
Need to enter 'G75', search & add to the comparisons.
@ Battery-life / 'Battery Runtime - WiFi Websurfing': it shows Neo-4300mAh is inferior than G75-5000mAh…surprise?

      Look for forums reviews also.

What features is important to YOU?

  • Can someone with a Motorola Phone and an Orbi Mesh Router please tell me if they experience slow browsing? I have a ThinkPhone and it's driving me nuts. I know it's not the phone because there's no lag with the Google WiFi Pro. I have NFI how this is even possible. I don't want to use the Google WiFi Pro either because it's shit.

  • +1

The Edge 50 Neo could previously be bought for a lot cheaper by 25% from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/878597

  • The Edge 50 Neo went for $200 back in Dec abeit in limited quantities.

    • As above your post not that cheap - was $348..and very limited (likely loss making) and numbers.

Regular 50 still $449 at JB. I'd think the Neo will go $350-400 within months.

      • +1

No it went for 250 for black friday is what i think he means.

it was a one time fluke offer

  • Hey all which model has the best camera of the lot, with SD card slot?

    • +1

Neo has the best camera but SD card slot is only available in the G75 and the cheaper models.

  • I have this phone the issue is, if you have a magnetic powerbank it wont work with any magnetic case, if anyone has found a good magnetic case that works with wireless charging let me kknow.

  • Will OW price match this?

    • $327 now at OW

      • link?

      • I meant Edge 50 Neo

  • I purchased the G75 as a backup phone in February; as an iPhone user, I can attest to its speed considering its low cost. Earbuds have a lot more bass than my fourth-generation AirPods, so they definitely sound better.
The camera isn't the best, but it's not bad for everyday photos.
It's good to have a quick charge feature. I love the shake to turn on the light torch haha

  • Does either the G75 or Edge 30 have a curved displays?

I want to avoid curved displays.

Which one is a better phone?

    Thanks.

    • +2

Does either the G75 or Edge 30 have a curved displays?

Both the G75, Edge 30 Pro and Edge 50 Neo are flat screen.

The G85, Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Fusion are edge curved display.

  • When does the code expire?

  • +1

I had the G84, apart from the audio volume limit it was great. Unless your a hardcore gamer or posting your boring life onto Instagram, it was a fantastic phone. This one got left on the back of a car and run over. Now I have the edge 50 and it's just even better, feels like a flag ship to me and costs way less. Motorola for life, such good value and stuff the Samsung/google overpriced gimmicky phones, not worth price.

  • what would be the consensus choice between:

The Motorola Edge 50 Neo for $447
    or
    Nothing Phone 2a for $463

Notebook Review has 2a at 87% and the Neo at 77% - tho Neo appears to have more features (wireless charging, better camera).

Not in a rush to buy, so may wait until EOFY but current phone (S10) is starting to fail - GPS barely working at the moment - so my hand may be forced.

    • The neo feels quite a bit small imo with that 6.4in screen

Moto software is very barebones on the other hand, I feel like you'd be happier with the nothing phone.

    • Go to JB-Hifi & play with both phones.

Can anyone confirm you are able to do contactless payments with this phone (Moto G75) due to being a non-ese nfc phone?

Have found the below quote fairly often about phone:
Since the Moto G75 has "non-eSE NFC," it likely cannot support secure NFC payments, like Google Pay or similar services, as it lacks the embedded Secure Element (eSE) chip needed for secure transaction handling. However, you can still use NFC for basic functions such as file sharing, connecting to NFC-enabled devices, and scanning NFC tags

    Any current users can confirm?

    • I really hope it can, that would be a deal breaker.

    • Not sure if it's specific sub models, but Google Wallet works fine for me (NFC Payments).

  • I am considering buying the g75 as a spare phone. Is it worth waiting till eofy?

  • Had the G75 with motobuds for a few months. Almost faultless, and the Motobuds are great. So much so I haven't taken my Bose QC35s on my last few interstate plane flights.

(Only weird thing is after security / android update it seems to do really weird things with the icons / screen scaling / app borders till I do a proper reboot. However, no issues post reboot.

    • How's the noise cancelling of the buds

      • Seems pretty good. Not as good as the over-ears, but still impressive enough.
