06.05.2025

Dear friends, to commemorate 80 years since the Allied victory in Europe in World War II we at 1C Game Studios would like to give you a gift worthy of this date - not a picture, not a postcard, not even an airplane - but a whole game dedicated to one of the hardest-fought battles of this war, the heroic defense of the capital of the USSR and the subsequent counter-offensive of the Red Army.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Moscow is not just a flight sim, it is a living history:

  • 8 aircraft with detailed cockpits: four fighters (I-16 Type 24, MiG-3 Series 24, Messerschmitts Bf 109 E-7 and Bf 109 F-2), IL-2 ground attack aircraft mod. 1941, heavy fighter-bomber Bf 110 E-2 and bombers Pe-2 series 35 and Junkers Ju-88 A-4
  • Huge Moscow and Kalinin regions map as of 1941
  • Pilot Career mode - join one of the real squadrons, advance in rank and receive awards
  • Fierce battles - in single player mode or with other players

"IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Moscow can be used as a separate product or be integrated with BOS and/or BOK, resulting in one big WWII Eastern Front combat flight-sim."

The Steam versions of these IL-2 Great Battles modules are classified as DLCs - in order to play any of them, they require pre-ownership of the base game IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad (RRP A$73.50) on your Steam account.

There was a leak of their new Korea games cloud bucket that strongly suggested these guys also work on fpv drone Sims for the Russian military, no harm trying the game for free but maybe a consideration before sending them money.

Steam pages warn about dead servers, horrible issus having to spend an hour setting it back up after every update. IL2 1946 comments say that version is broken on newer than 30 series NVidia or Windows 11. Having sunk a lot of time into flight sim about 15-25 years ago I can tell you it becomes a chore when you have to fight set up or deal with issues. Of course grab it for free but if you're struggling, move on. A good flying game will have you learning about flight and having fun, not learning obscure setup.

    • IL2 was the worst gaming experience.

      • I played the game way back when it was new and it was a good game. I didn't realize it had turned into whatever this is.

After creating an account and going back to this page the get free button just keeps reloading the page without saying anything. You can verify it worked by going to https://il2sturmovik.com/store/license-keys/
