If you have an old .edu university email, you can sign up for Unidays which has uber one at $3/month
Uber seems to have a validation method which requires you to have an active enrolment.

Just curious how you bypassed the Sheer ID thing? I have an edu address due to working in education that usually allows me most things but the Uber One verification tried to get me to log into an actual uni portal
I hate Uber One, I never used it and yet because Uber had my card details, they took $9.99 from my account due to Uber One.
I had to cancel my card and all the drama which apparently is a known Uber scam, people are paying without noticing.
Keep in mind that this happened last year and I have not used Uber services for a very long time.I have been using DoorDash for years now, less problems with the lack of drivers and somebody posted here a free DoorDash Pass for 2-3y via Amazon so some fees you no longer pay.
I would say if you use a service, service prover has right to charge you.
I had not have any issue with lack of drivers yet. I am more into using uber for uberx (taxi). I am not much into delivering foods when foods can be cooked at home

If you are a member and yet never use it, they are obliged to charge you for the monthly fees. Whether you hate or love it has nothing to do with the fees. You can not justify payment for your negligence to cancel on time. Contact the support. They often refund back . However, it depends on whether you have the time to contact or time to shout at the sky
