Considering a Cash and Carry coffee deal

I am considering offering a cash and carry deal on this coffee;

The only way I could see it working is to have a meet point somewhere around Sydney. Where?

What about the other cities and regionals? I thought about arranging a meet point for central distribution, but if that delivery went missing or got messy, it would be a meeting of angry OzBargainers, so I think that idea is out!

I want the price to be hot - what $'s do you think will work?

Payment would be on pickup - no pre-payment, no deposits, else it could be a logistical nightmare.

Also, there is only a certain amount of this coffee that I can offer - how can I manage that expectation if there is a run on it?

any thoughts?

  • Great idea. Problem for you would be people promising to show and not and you're left with a large amount of roasted beans. To be worth driving to a pick up point it would have to be a super duper price for me, I pay around $35/kg for coffee now so unless the pick up was just down the road it would have to be around $25 before I would bother (sorry don't mean to devalue your product here just letting you know what would work for me). As for location perhaps Parramatta somewhere, for Sydney customers. As for the quantity let people know in advance the maximum quantity, first in gets the bargain and then post when sold out. Another potential problem is selling the coffee at that meeting point, you may need council approval or a licence or something. Good luck, I love the idea…but then bargains are why we are all here!!

  • I say just find a cheap local courier, or AusPost doesn't charge that much for local delivery. I wouldn't do this to save under $50.
