Xbox X Expansion etc

WD BLACK C50 1TB Expansion Card for Xbox Vs Seagate Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S, 1 TB Solid State Drive - NVMe Expansion SSD

Have had my Xbox x a few years now but hardly used it just never had much time, but I’m going to try get more into it.
I have a large collection of Xbox games obviously had a lot of Xbox one games which I passed the Xbox one on to my son and but he is more a Nintendo switch user.
I have a number of Xbox x games also.

I was really shocked after buying the Xbox x how much external storage was got it so never bothered getting at the time and to be honest the price have stayed high on them.
Also have gamepass to use i actually got this fit the sim but never goes on it and I think i should use it more as I paid for a year of it.
But I’m tempted to get one of these drives for my Xbox but not sure the go.

I believe the Seagate one was maybe around first? Also I don’t don’t fancy spending on the 2tb as it’s just way to much as much had it us useful to have the price is a joke.

There are some deal going around but bit of a time wait so just thought I ask on which is better option of the two brands and why

Unfortunately, proprietary storage = high price, since there's no competition among manufacturers; this used to be a real problem for Sony (Memory Stick, PS Vita memory card, etc.), until they opted for industry standard this time. A 2TB Xbox Expansion is $380-400 vs $180-200 for an NVME SSD, so basically double.

  • Do the CF Express to NVMe adapters still work?

Your other alternative option is a basic HDD/SSD via USB3 and then copy back and forth to the high-speed drive as you need to. A lot cheaper but it does require manual input for Series X games

  • It is faster than your average SSD. I'd go with the cheapest, by the time it breaks you'll be on Xbox Series 3.

Just download a game and play it through. Or if it turns out you don’t like it, cross it off your list and move on to the next one. Spending money on this non-problem won’t magically imbue you with the willpower or the time to actually do something. And if a game is so big that it requires so much extra storage, maybe think about whether you really need it in your life.

Spending time figuring out what extra stuff to buy and then filling it up with games you don’t end up playing is pointless.

I did use a portable hard drive with my Xbox one which was nothing like the prices for the Xbox x.
And yes it was good to have the extra memory as I been so busy I never had much time to play much on it and was going to get one of them drives for the Xbox x when purchased but at time i thought bugger it just purchased the console it can wait.
Can’t remember when I purchased it but was less than retail back then and was on a ebay Black Friday and with a game.
I thought with 1tb it be enough which Xbox comes with but looking it up online it seems to be games are very large. I do had a lot of Xbox games which are Xbox one and a mix and Xbox only so having this extra memory I’m sure will help a lot.

I take it the Seagate one is the go.
