Would not recommend the grand views (boots).
I'm a regular hiker and I got some of the worst blisters I've ever gotten from these.

Seems to be a relatively common issue online and also an end of life product so probably a design flaw.

The weird heel cup seems to completely fail to stop your heel sliding up and down, and because the straps to the "cup" section are one of the eyelets you can't really modify the lacing pattern easily to heel locks etc (it's probably doable with some messing around).

Will go back to my zero drop and Salomon/Altras.

I don't know why but I bought some silly men's reember terrain sundried tomato for $82 delivered. Gf is going to kill me.

    • I’ve never got more complements on footwear than I did with my multicolour Tevas, rock out proudly.

  • Nearly 20 years ago on my first trip to Thailand I bought a pair of knockoff Tevas in a market. They didn't last the trip before the soles were coming off and the stitching was coming apart…but I liked the concept of them so when I got back I bought a genuine pair.

Now, that nearly 20 yeara later, those Tevas have been all over the world, trudged any number of kilometres hrough all manner of terrain and muck. Only now are the soles wearing down and the velcro on the straps is loosing its stick.

Would any I bought today last as well? I don't know. I bought mine before their manufacturing went offshore. Any comments on their quality and longevity nowadays?

    • I bought a pair last year before a 6 week central america holiday and wore them pretty much every day they were fine when I got back then wore them fairly regularly through aussie summer and I'd say the soles have worn down a bit but no sign of falling apart.

    • I've had a pair for about 6 years with relatively light to moderate use and they don't look like they've had any significant wear. 6 years doesn't compare with your 20, but it's made me hesitate buying another pair in this sale because I may not need another pair for another 6+ years or more….

    • Bought a pair of the universals in 2022, lasted two years before the outsole hardened and became really slippery. The rest of the sandal held up great, to the point I had them re-soled for $20. Sadly the new sole was too hard and pushed the strap up enough I could feel it with each step so I just got a second pair.

Superb for about town, beach, travel. I’ve done light bush walks in them but I wouldn’t trust them for serious hiking. I did look at the hurricanes but thick-soled hiking sandals look geeky to me 😄 I’ll stick to trail runners

Overall for $30 a year for good-looking and reliable sandals it’s a buy.

  • Their thongs are really good, but only size 7 (different style than the ones I have) (right near the bottom of the list) $52

  • Blessed deal thanks OP, grabbed a fresh set of the Universals for $48. Set for another few years now
