  • Pram is great. Bassinet won’t be needed for long, glad we skipped it.

    oooft too much
i got a 6 month old bugaboo fox 5 from fbmp for 800 bucks
has 3 and half years of warranty left.

    • +1

Agree fbmp is the way to go but the bugaboo fox isn’t really a competitor to the vista. That would more likely be the bugaboo kangaroo, which is very hard to find on fbmp

      • -3

It absolutely is a competitor to the Vista. Google "Bugaboo Fox vs Uppababy…", and the majority of the results will be compared with the Vista.

The Uppababy range just has fewer models, so Vista competes with multiple products in the Bugaboo range.

Yes, you are correct that Bugaboo Kangaroo is probably more similar to the Vista (in being a full-sized pram that can be converted to a double). But not everyone who buys a Vista is buying it for that capability to expand - it's just the full-size pram offering from the Uppababy range.

Really, the Vista competes with Fox, Kangaroo AND Donkey. For different buyers. (Tbh, I bet you more people are cross-shopping Fox and Vista than Kangaroo/Donkey and Vista.)

So I disagree with your contention that Bugaboo Fox is not a competitor. To you? Sure. But for other people, absolutely it is. Especially when talking about the secondhand market (where Bugaboo Kangaroo will be far far less available than the rest, being a much newer model).

Source: crossed-shopped both. (Didn't end up buying either, fwiw.)

Literally the first review I looked at:

“Even though the UPPAbaby Vista V2 and Bugaboo Fox5 both offer a sleek design and impressive functionality, it’s worth noting that comparing the Vista V2 and Fox5 is not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison. While the Fox5 is designed as a single stroller, the Vista V2 is a versatile convertible stroller that can be expanded from a single to a double stroller to accommodate growing families. When making your decision, it's crucial to keep this key difference in mind, as it can greatly affect which stroller is the best fit for your family's needs.”

          • @onlinepred: Yes, absolutely. I said exactly that: that they were different in that particular feature.

For people that this feature is important, they are not competitors.

But for people that this feature is not important, they ARE competitors. ESPECIALLY for people buying secondhand off marketplace (where the Kangaroo will not be available cheaply, because it is too new).

I'm not sure why folks are finding this hard to understand. Different products have different features - that doesnt mean that they cant be competitors, right?

If you are a family that is only planning on having 1 child (or planning to have them far enough apart that a double stroller is not necessary), and you are buying secondhand off Marketplace, you will be choosing between Fox and Vista (and others). That makes them competition for, at the very least, these buyers. Understand?

It is factual to say: "Fox isn't an alternative if you need to use it as a double pram." Sure, absolutely!

It is not factual to say: "Fox and Vista are not competitors." They are competitors, for at least one subset of the market (people who don't need to use it as a double pram, especially if buying secondhand where Kangaroo is not readily available).

            • +1

@caprimulgus: Only having one baby so I don’t need a double

              • @Wiadro: Yeah we said that too and then one moment of misjudgement with the er…dismount…and 9 months later the double pram made so much sense.

            • +1

@caprimulgus: Keep in mind, I bought a Vista v2 for $900 brand new without the basinet. For around the price I would get the Vista every time. The fact the Vista is highly repairable and made to be repaired was the selling point for me (and a big usable basket), that and how smooth it is on pathways.

Just FYI, if you read back my (admittedly long) comments, I have never actually commented on the relative merits and which pram I think is better between the two. I was commenting purely on the fact that those two ARE competitors in the market (for full-sized single prams, especially in the secondary market).

(If anything, my comments support the versatility of the Vista - that it can compete with multiple models from a competing brand!)

FWIW, I would have bought a secondhand Vista over a secondhand Fox, absolutely! I prefer the Vista myself (and was never suggesting anyone buy a Fox instead!). :)

I simply take issue with the "not a competitor" comment. This is a hill I'm happy to die on! (Note: I don't even own a pram from either brand!!! lol) :)

  • What's the Stokke deals? They look fairly close to RRP?

Reach total of $2,500 to get 15% off.

Hmmmm, this or the vasectomy deal?

  • +1

Anyone know a good travel pram?

    • Kmart has a new $179 one, pretty decent just doesn't stay upright as much as one would like so have to stuff some backrest pillow

    • We have a Redsbaby Skip 2 and it's been good for international travel (we haven't tried flying domestically with it). Some airline check-in don't know what it is and have asked is it like a Yoyo. Yoyo I think folds down a bit more compact but as for features and functionality I'm not sure how it compares as I haven't seen one in person.

Skip 3 is out now but it looks to be a bit bigger when folded. I'd be wary as even the Skip 2 is technically over most airline's allowed sizes and was a very tight fit into the upper deck bins on an A380. From memory Skip 2 didn't fit into the window side bins of an A330 but fit in the middle bins. No issues with fitting in bins on the A350.

      • Skip 3 fit easily in middle bins on 787. Didn't try the side bins. Will have a go at the 737 bins on Saturday which might be a squeeze we'll see.

Babyzen Yoyo is the gold standard for airline travel

      • Yoyo features lag others though, it did not compare well when I tried it out in store. It has name recognition but has rested on its laurels for a long time now

        • I disagree. It may not be the most practical (eg the folding mechanism), but it’s the most widely accepted on planes, is rock solid and has the smallest folded size without compromising on quality

          • @SirFrankGrimes: Its major flaw is that you cannot walk normally behind it while pushing due to the short and narrow handlebar. You keep kicking the rear axle.

            I'm not even tall - 178 cm. That's 101 of pram design.

I understand making compromises to fit within carryon dimensions but there are other prams that don't have this issue while remaining compact.

    • Strongly recommend this cheapie from Big W:
      https://www.bigw.com.au/product/safe-n-sound-weekender-strol…

We've used it for 2 years, and it's been on 2 trips to Bali with us. Honestly fantastic, and cheap enough that buying another if it breaks still puts you ahead (not that I think it will break).

At 1yo we got rid of our full size Bugaboo and just used this travel pram. So convenient.

      • Would airline allow this stroller without a travel bag?

        • We've taken it through both Jetstar and Virgin without a bag, no problem.

I suspect it depends on who you get at the gate however, as with a previous pram of a similar size, we needed to put it in a bag (which we didn't have, we ended up stretching a spare t-shirt over it and they accepted it).

  • So much simpler than using gift cards

Looking at stuff a lot as an expectant parent, just like the last pram deal I'm with the comments who don't "get it". So far our draft shopping list has a Britax pram, cot/toddler bed (fully fitted out), and car seat, all for the same price (probably less) than the price of this pram alone.

    • Go used for nearly everything.

      • Everything except car seat.

        • +1

          Yep! And mattress hehe

  • +3

PSA: buy your baby stuff secondhand. FB marketplace is a gold mine for prams, cots, bouncers, change tables, etc. Only thing I bought new was a car seat

    • I got it baby seat brand new from fbmp
The people forgot to return it in the 30 day period.

      • Baby seats are the only main things I bought new. I found it hard to trust used ones in case they have been dropped/in an accident.

        • Yeah that’s true. Mine was sealed and all wrapped up in the box so no drama at its it being new new.

    • +1

Yep- things like cots, high chairs and prams are great to buy secondhand. Get a new mattress for the cot, and wash the covers and seat pads of the prams (or even get new ones). Can save heaps

      • Baby brands have done a cracking job at convincing new parents to spend big

  • Wife really wanted one of these (v2) and we were all set to get it but managed to convince her we didn't need such a huge pram with the ability to go tandem and ended up buying a lower model Cybex for like $800 (still pricey) with a bassinet (which we used like 8 times but wife insisted). So glad we did though because we feel like even my pram is big enough and already takes up 2/3 of our boot. These Vistas are huge full sized prams, it's bigger than mine and just takes up so much space even when folded up.

  • Need to unsubscribe lol I picked up last week

  • Great deal!
