Google suggests grinding some rice to absorb any residue oil, etc. Would use hand sanitizer (not water) on the burrs?
Warm soapy water for removable parts.
For example, you've just received the KG521M.

Isopropyl alcohol and an electric toothbrush
I was using "hand sanitizer" generically for isopropyl alcohol (can't spell off top of my head).
The thickeners in the hand sanitisers could gum up your burrs if you don't get everything off.
cafetto + urnex makes grinder cleaners but i don't think you need it
just send it.
Yeah, cheap but not cheerful. The intense dark roast kills it so would be good for "cleaning".
Probably better for your burrs than using rice though…
Agreed.
Those beans are actually pretty good if you can find a pack with recent roast date.
Is the roast date on the pack?
Yes, it's one of the few that still print a roast date rather than a useless expiry date. You can usually find a pack that is only a few weeks old.
If you are really worried about it, put a load of old beans through first.
Use water and report back how that goes for you
Rice seems too hard for the burrs.
I wouldn't use water either. Sure wash the plastic hopper and bits in soapy water. With the burrs you can "clean" them by grinding some sacrificial old coffee beans through and binning them.
