You will be awarded with 2,000 Virgin Money Bonus Points when you spend a minimum amount of $150 in a single transaction using your Virgin Money Visa Debit Card (Go Account), Virgin Money Low Rate Credit Card, Virgin Money No Annual Fee Credit Card or Virgin Money Anytime Rewards Credit Card at participating grocery partners Woolworths and Coles. Transactions must be made in-store at Woolworths and Coles supermarkets. Purchases at non-grocery Coles and Woolworths businesses, including but not limited to affiliated service stations, Coles Mobile, Coles Insurance, Woolworths Insurance, Woolworths Mobile, and payments of financial services affiliated with Coles and Woolworths such as credit cards do not qualify. Transactions made using EFTPOS (Chq/Sav) are excluded from the offer. You can earn up to three bonus awards per merchant during the Offer Period with a maximum earn rate of 6,000 Virgin Money Bonus Points at each merchant.       2,000 points for each shop of $150. You can do this three times at Woolies, and three times at Coles. Total 12,000 points. That is my understanding of it.

        Cash advance fee for $150 would be ~ $4.05 plus ~ 21% p.a. in interest.

        Possibly worthwhile for 2,000 points a pop, but it's likely not eligible for bonus.

        Coles and Woolworths will only allow you to do cashout over the eftpos network (i.e. SAV or CHQ). However, the offer terms and conditions provided by churlish says that any transactions routed through the eftpos network (i.e. SAV or CHQ) are excluded from this offer, which means that cashout will officially not count towards this deal.

        As an aside…

        • This clause also means that if you tap a physical Virgin Money Visa Debit Card at Coles, there is a good chance that Coles will route the payment through the eftpos network instead of the Visa network (especially for a higher-value transaction, e.g. $150). Coles implemented Least-Cost Routing (LCR) on dual-network Visa debit cards a few years ago, so if you want to participate in this deal, the best thing to do is insert the physical card into the EFTPOS terminal and choose CR when prompted. (I am not sure whether Woolworths has implemented LCR on contactless transactions from physical dual-network Visa debit cards.)

        • I do not know whether the Virgin Money Visa Debit Card on Apple Pay supports both the Visa and eftpos networks. However, if it does and you added the Virgin Money Visa Debit Card to an iPhone when it was running iOS 18 (or an Apple Watch when it was running watchOS 11), it means you will not be able to choose to route your payment through Visa or eftpos. In other words, LCR is switched on for that payment card in Apple Pay, and your payment will be routed through either Visa or eftpos (depending on Coles' or Woolworths' preferences).

    These points are brilliant and difficult to earn. Apart from the HSBC star alliance card, this is your only other option to transfer to mileage plus. Points don't expire and they have far more pointed redemption options than Kris flyer etc.
