    Hmm

It supports data as well so i think this can be used for your mech keyboards.

    I don’t understand.

It's a strap that doubles as a USB for your power bank, might be useful if you're travelling.

And supposedly there's a charging brick as well. Was this an invented problem?

Don't buy. I have this. I stopped using mine. The screws can come loose and it almost dropped my phone.

    • +2

Yeah, plus the cable is just too thick and unwieldy (it doesn't like to bend) to carry by itself. I now only use the cable at home.

For only $3, this can be used just as a charging cable. Trusting a $3 cable to hang your phone is a mistake

Like trying to hang yourself with a clip-on tie, fractured both legs.

Saw a sitcom TV show with this guy trying to hang himself. They did a bit of business with him wrapping the curtain cord around his neck and when he jumped off the chair the curtains opened. Not sure on the physics but it was hilarious.

this I think many comments are missing the point. it's a 60W USB-C cable for $3.

it does look braided and nice. as another comment somewhere said, it would be a nice looking keyboard cable. (if it's long enough to reach)

        • Maybe the specs are misleading though? It was only $12 beforehand.

          • @sam buster: you can plug it into 60W charger and device and find out I guess.

            • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Yeah - you posted that just as I was looking at them in store. I remembered reading an article about how a LOT of cables don't have correct chips in them (some well-known brands including Ugreen) and decided not to bother.

              • @sam buster: fyi 60W USB-C to C PD doesn't require a chip. it's the 100W and above cables that use what's called a E marker chip.

60W is the lowest standard of USB-C to C PD cable you can buy and does not require a E marker chip.

they literally don't make 45W or 30W USB-C to C cables, they all support up to 60W.

  • The worst fashion mistake I've seen in a while….not that there's any shortage of them.
This would also last a millisecond before it was stolen when worn in many parts of the world.

    • It's a very popular trend now. My wife uses one and loves it, but is also smart enough not to wear it in dodgy areas.

Lots of people wear this in Japan lol. Which is a country at least 20x more fashionable than Australia…
And are you also against expensive bags/watches/cars because they'd get robbed in Myanmar in under 2 hours?

      • +2

well u made your own point japan one of the lowest crime rates countries in the world!

        • But they also started the selfie stick in the 90s

    Ordered, thank you.

  • The current ring clasp (the ring that connects the phone to the lanyard) is prone to twisting open. I recommend replacing the clasp with a swivelling lobster clasp.

The cheap T shape plastic will snap before the clasp

  • We are the Borg. You will be assimilated.

  • Following that link made me realise they have other fashion accessories made of USB-C cables (at cheaper than eBay pricing). I'm no fashionista but I don't know if wearing a USB-C bracelet is 'fashionable' yet!

    • not meant to be fashionable. if anything it probably looks thick, keeps it's shape too much and looks odd.

the idea is it's meant to be handy, you put this on and always have a USB-C cable on you. there are many places now with USB-C ports but no cables. this way you can always charge your phone.

  • I’ll probably reinforce the connection but I’m getting this to have a cord around my neck for when I take pictures with my phone. Always a bit fraught when I’m taking pictures over the edge of a building.

Apparently London has joined the motorbike/scooter drive by phone grab too…

    • London has been for some time.

  • Curious. Could this be used as a backup usc c MacBook charging cable?

    • pretty sure macbook needs more than 60W.

also why risk your $1k macbook with a $3 USB-C cable. pay a bit more and get a decent one, this especially matters for longer lengths (usually handy for laptop).

      • Wasn’t looking looks for a replacement.
        Just a back up.

        Appreciate all the same.

  • Received mine and quality is good. Ordered a few more wrist straps

    • hmm because a comment said plenty stock, I was taking my time and thought I didn't need one right now.

might consider because you say quality is decent.

also forgot to say in another comment, because of those metal connectors some recessed keyboard ports (and also some phone cases) might not be wide enough to plug the metal connector. it was a common issue with metal connectors in r/MK even with very expensive keyboards.

phones are usually completely flat there, but some cases have a smaller opening than others.

  • My order placed on 18th for one of these (black) was cancelled :(

  • Anyone who wears this phone cable things in public like the model is asking to be robbed.

  • this is still on sale?

    thanks @shxhshzhz ,

they had a few left so ended up picking one up. pretty happy for $3. 60W, solid metal connectors, thick braid and feels soft and comfortable bendy so feels premium.
