I see the same people selling amazon fire tv 4K sticks on marketplace and gumtree quite regularly, so there's obviously some loophole allowing them to 'obtain' new, boxed units at a massive discount - are they stolen, ordered by credit card fraud, shoplifted, or simply frequent flyer rewards etc? I just haven't been able to figure out they're obtaining so many and selling them - just my curiosity is all. Anyone know?

the adds are usually around $60-70 for the fire stick 4K and the few I've just looked at have price stickers on them, so I doubt they came from amazon / online. I think they're probably the old five fingered discount - it's just they're always for sale and usually have multiple adds for different models.
ohmajack - nah, these are for the devices, not for 'hacked' ones with streaming apps installed (wouldn't touch one of those with a 10 foot pole - unknown device running hacked apps on my network? yeah nah.
Amazon themself offers discounts on them for each new account, and on Amazon day. I’ve sold a dozen of them myself, they’re a profitable way to rack up spends on a churned credit card.
ahh ok that makes sense.. I know the current fire tv sticks have been on mega clearance in the USA - with the supposed new models having a custom O/S so Amazon have tighter control over the device etc.

I haven’t bought a Firestick in a while, the current offer in my accounts is a 4th gen Echo for $75.
They come on 50% discounts like clockwork every couple of months. I just had a quick look on marketplace and none seem to be any cheaper than that, so I guess it's people selling them in between sale periods?
