I had the same issue before as well, but this is actually dependent on the water temperature you wash at. This tend to happen if you wash with cold water vs warmer water, I have never had this issue again since I started using the 40C wash cycle, so it depends on what wash setting you usually use.
With front loaders you supposed to add powder to the drum.
We used Omo sensitive powder before and it left chunks in the washing, even seemed to eat holes in some clothes. However, the Aldi sensitive powder has been great, zero issues with residue. As a bonus it's Aust made and cheaper too. We always just wash at the default 40degC FWIW.
fwiw it's also on sale at woolworths at the moment (at least in Victoria) for the same price as the buy once Amazon price: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/471182/omo…
Liquid also on special at Woolworths and Amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/OMO-Active-Laundry-Liquid-Detergen…
FYI OMO Ultimate is not on sale at Woolies/Coles but Amazon still has the 4L bottle for $27 S&S which is a better deal

If you're using a front-loader, go with liquid detergent. Powders tend to leave gunk on the sides that's a pain to clean.
