I bought a Chrome cast from Amazon.com.au and the geniuses sent me one with a USA plug so I applied for a return, can I please know the quickest turnaround I can do to get it working for me? Should I just go to jb hifi and get another one or just wait longer for Amazon. It's on me that I bought it online, I won't make that mistake again.
Thanks for reading.

Does jb hifi sell Australian plugs separately?
If you have asked for a return, you'd be returning the chromcast along with the US plug. So why would you need to buy an Australian plug for it?
Surely you have an old brick and USBC cable lying around.
You can ask for partial refund and just use any suitable adapter, just make sure to match the Volts and Amps on USA plug.
This lists all of them with their associated power supply
I would also double check it is a real chromecast, I don't see any reason why you would receive one with USA plug especially since it is sold in so many places in Australia… do you have the listing? Was it sold by Amazon AU?
It uses usb-c and was purchased on Amazon USA for some reason.
Plug it into the tv USB hole like everyone else does? Use another random USB power adaptor you have sitting around?
This is the link for it.

Tell me OP is a boomer without telling me OP is a boomer
Every time I see someone write about boomers I think about Rolf Harris.
Six (ty thousand) white boomers.
Now being saved and collected by Trump & Musk every 5 mins.Just utter the words persecuted farmer.
No passport required.
Rumour is McTrump is going to use the new AF1 to ferry them to USA & Straya.Free Tesla on arrival.
@Muppet Detector: Boomer is just anyone older than you are, anyone old enough to not understand things most people your age know. It's a nice catch-all, even if it destroys the very useful designation of baby boomer in language.
@AustriaBargain: Thanks! I didn't know that. I thought it referred to a specific generation (older than me); but never knew it had now become generalised.
The word still does make me think about that book/song/Christmas Carol and learning that boomers were kangaroos.
Same as a lot of people don't realise that Waltzing Matilda is about freedom, independence and sheep rustling.
@Muppet Detector: The title was Australian slang for travelling on foot with one's belongings in a "matilda" slung over one's back, a slang expression that may have originally been repurposed from a work of light verse by Charles Godfrey Leland
@AustriaBargain: That's strange - I thought a boomer was anyone old enough to understand things that most people younger than them don't know. 🤔
@jackspratt: That would be a stupid definition imo. Gen Z could be a boomer compared to a toddler, for instance
@jackspratt: Boomers rely on RI (real intelligence), non boomers, rely on AI ( antiscocial insertion) aka Outsourced thinking, creating, writing etc).
@AustriaBargain: And miraculously they didn't have any offspring. Also those offspring, that they didn't have, are the greatest critics of boomers.
5v 1.5a, but yes, almost any recent phone or tablet USB supply.
I knew it was wrong when I typed it lol
I bought a Chrome cast from Amazon.com.au

Amazon.com
Ask for a refund, and then price match JB/GG to get the best price
I have an old usbc charger I can use.
Great idea. Give it a crack. Report back.
Link to the product?
Sounds like you ordered one from the US
You shouldn't be posting a link that has referral information…. I'm telling.
Lmao you guys.
@DashCam AKA Rolts - I'll be upset if I don't read about this next Monday at 0830 with my weekly roundup cup of tea.
The "what's included" list lists a power adapter and a separate 1.8m power cable. That sounds like you could simply get a power cable with the right country plug on it, and plug it into the adapter. Providing the adapter can accept 230VAC. Usually if they can't, the power cable isn't plugged into the power cable, it is fixed to it so you can't use it anywhere else than where its designed for.
You may not want a US model. The region is hardcoded in the device. In theory, that should not make any difference. In practice I notice that the firmware is at a different version than Australian model and it's always more laggy and often plays at a lower resolution. I dunno why, maybe it goes via USA servers? This is with original first-gen Chromecasts.
Couldn't you have bought one locally quicker than this post?
I would just ask Amazon for a refund and grab it at JB.
