$2800 with a $400 GC at The Good Guys - might be worth if you need something from there.

Not sure if stackable with cashback too.

    • +6

Or get TGG to match Appliance Online offer and also get the $400 GC too

      • Yeah okay, giving that a shot.

        • +1

Tried that. They can price match, but then wont get the 400$ GC

          • @bkoolrocks: Why not?

            • +1

@oscargamer: they say GC is for the ticketed price !

              • +3

@bkoolrocks: Just read the t's and c's for both TGG and their gift cards, can't see that as a term or condition. Might give them a buzz, just for shats and giggles

                • +1

@oscargamer: Lmk how you go. I ordered through them on a price match because AP was showing as on backorder.

          • +4

@bkoolrocks: then rather buy with Appliances online for upfront discount.

          • @bkoolrocks: Interesting. The T&Cs say you have to submit the claim, and it’s not an instant $400 provided when you buy it

          • +4

@bkoolrocks: Ok my rep did match the price and offered Gift card too…

          • +1

@bkoolrocks: Mine let me submit a claim using the invoice number provided at delivery.

Didn't say what for but guess we'll find out.

      • +1

can confirm that I got the gift card and price matched. gift card came within 10min of submission. for the price match orders, you do need to message them to get the paid docket number (different to the unpaid one that starts with U) to submit the claim. order number showing on the payment page doesn't work as it's not a web order number.

        • +2

thanks for your message about it working, i took a chance and it worked for me too (despite 2 reps saying i couldnt). :)

  • +7

Very tempting, but with you OP - holding out for C8k and prepared to sit tight until black friday

    • +1

I am also holding out for C8K but heard from a JB staff that the pricing for C8K won’t be the same as C855 last year :(

      • +15

Of course he's gonna say that. Reminds me of when someone posted about buying a furniture set and the sales guy said its the best price and assured them it won't be cheaper during EOFY so they bought it. then at EOFYs it was 2k cheaper. LoL. These salespeople are looking for a sale RIGHT NOW.

        • Absolutely agree..

  • I wish they had the C8K ….

  • do they honor price protection? got this for $2807…

    • I guess yes, within 30 days !

Any advice on a great quality 85"?
I wanted the frame but read it is not best?
A real non tech person here and my husband is worse so no idea what everyone is talking about, but our current Hitachi buffers constantly, despite us getting FTTP and speeds being amazing.
We mainly stream or cast, no gaming.
Would this TV fix our issue?

    • +1

This is probably the best quality 85" for the price that you will find. Hisense would be the only other viable option around this price point.

LG + Sony are premium and better quality, but you pay for it (EOYF, BF, XMAS sales you may get a good deal for end of year models) and then you have Samsung which is lesser quality but cheaper when on sale.
      .

    • +3

If your TV buffers a lot while streaming, you can try Apple TV, Google Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV. They have chips better than TV's. This is way cheaper than replacing the TV if you are still happy with it. Otherwise, TCL is the best at the moment with that price tag.

My old Sony X95G also starts to buffer for a second or two while streaming Disney+. This will eventually happen to all smart TV.

      • Likely a home router or Internet issue

  • What's the best 98/100 inch TV under 3k atm?

    • +2

In that price range probably whatever TCL and Hisense have that released last year

    • +1

Your budget is not compatible with your desired size.

    • +3

What equivalent 85" Sony are you getting for this money? Given this likely is on par or potentially better than a Bravia 5 85" which is $4K+, this is nowhere near the price of a Sony.

      • +4

he is paying for bravia 3 and even that with $200-300 more.

        • +5

Exactly, and a Bravia 3 is a TV that i'd say basically nobody should buy.

    • +4

It is almost never worth buying an entry level TV from a big brand. You are better off spending the same money on a TCL or even a Hisense at that price range. At the middle end and more specifically the top end, that's where the big brands shine.

  • +2

I bought the 75-inch at $2495 from TGG 2 days ago. Expecting to get it today. I read that TCL mini-LED is the best P/P. We can have better screens from Sony, but it's also more expensive.

An 85-inch at the price of 75 75-inch is a bargain.

    • ack, the same TV is now $2120. Effectively I lost some $ :(

      • If you haven’t carted it home…give them a call! They can still re-price! I did that today with the 85-inch.

        • +1

I got it delivered today. Will call tomorrow during business hour. Bought online, so not sure how it works. In the worst case, I can do a return and re-buy to obtain the $375 difference.

This deal is good, for some $200 more (take into account the giftcard), we get 10 inch bigger, that translates to 12% bigger surface area

          • @l0nglive: Yea hopefully they can just refund you the difference. I bought mine via chat to price match AO the first time around at $2807 (85 inch)…so it wasn't counted as online sale and had to call the store they placed my order with. It was pretty pain-free tho, they sorted it within minutes and matched the new AO price at $2526. Got the gift card too…so $2126 at the end.

  • +2

I managed a price match from TGG with the voucher included. Paid $59 for delivery so not quite a price match i guess. Used the chat function on the website

  • +1

Anyone able to comment on how much of a quality difference there is between the c7k and the c8k? Is the picture quality of the c7k comparable to last year's c855?

    • +2

C8K= you can compare with C855
C7k= you can compare with C755

    • +3

There is a step up in dimming zone count across both models this year which will drive a slightly higher cost, and should contribute to a better viewing experience. Peak brightness also increases across the models this year.

Taken from AI summaries, so do further research if you want to be sure.

      C855 Dimming Zones

      65-inch - 1344
      75-inch - 2160
      85-inch - 2304
      98-inch - 2160

      C8K Dimming Zones

      65-inch C8K: 2160 dimming zones.
      75-inch C8K: 2880 dimming zones.
      85-inch C8K: 3000 dimming zones.
      98-inch C8K: 3000 dimming zones.

      C755 Dimming Zones
      55-inch: 384
      65-inch: 512
      75-inch: 640
      85-inch: 880

      C7K dimming Zones
      55-inch C7K: 720 zones
      65-inch C7K: 1008 zones
      75-inch C7K: 1248 zones
      85-inch C7K: 1568 zones
      98-inch C7K: 2880 zones

The pricing wont be higher.. Every year they improve the quality and features of their TVs and the prices remain pretty much the same

        • That's fair, RRP looks pretty consistent.

    • +1

dimming zones, brightness too. plug in 'TCL c7k vs c8k, include a comparison table' into your AI platform of choice

  • Got $10 cheaper from TGG with free delivery and also Vocuher included.. good deal ?

Or shall I just wait for C8K deals EOFY?

  • I got the C8K 75 inch. TV is great but the remote oddly sucks. My friend's old budget TCL remote is far bettee

    • Thats a shame. The remote for my cheapie 43" TCL is great, odd that they'd make a crap one for the good Tv's.

    • What's wrong with it?

      • +1

Its big a long, feels like cheap light plastic, sharp and rough cut corners. Buttons relatively unintuitive but most are just not necessary. Generally uncomfortable to hold.

  • +1

Looks like the C8K prices are dropping already too, at JB and TGG, but Appliance Central are even cheaper..

    65C8K $2,050
    75C8K $2,780
    85C8K $3,650
    98C8K $7,990

Interestingly, Appliances Online and Harvey Norman still don't seem to have listings for the C8K..

    • +2

Good find - Ive been tracking C8K prices, screenshots and spreadsheets and all so very on top of it. Will also add Videopro to the mix who have knocked $600 off the last couple of days

Im in the market for the 85", as it stands -
      Appliance Central - $3650
      VideoPro - $3770
      TGG/JB (who price match) - $3820

      • Bro, what do you think the best price 98” will hit ? I know you don’t have the crystal ball but any good guess from your research ?

      • Have you had any luck finding a C8K mate?

        • Sure did, my final price was $3558 from JB with delivery and install included. The TV itself was listed as $3200 on my receipt but had to be bundled with the others to get that rate. Its listed at $4k on JB right now but $3580 on Appliance Central - this is all for the 85" model. Getting delivered and install on Monday, hope this helps

          • @augernised: Appreciate that - still out of my price range. Think I need to bite the bullet and go for the C7k (I'm also looking for the 85"). Wish I'd gone for this deal when it came up as everything else I've found has been significantly more.

            • @kahuna000: see if you can hold out for black friday in that case, it will be lowest then

    • What's the deal between the 85" vs 98" price difference…damn…

Really want to get a TCL 98 or 100 Hisense….

    • was the 65C8k REALLY $2050?

Its currently $2380 which is the cheapest I thought Ive seen it?

  • +1

What's the recommended wall mount to be used with this

    • vesa 60x40 isn’t it?

  • Can anybody share if this set can do the frame gen in Game mode turning everything into 120fps with imperceptible added latency like last years C855?

  • +1

Nice deal, if you price match this at Good guys, pay with gift cards and claim $400 GC. that's sub 2k for this 2025 model.

  • Built in B&O any good?

  • +1

Agh.. should I wait EOFY deals? I was at HN yesterday and they offered me display unit of 85” C75k +delivery. I almost baited it!

  • I can also confirm price match + delivery + bonus offer from TGG.

  • I shouldn't have said, 'Not to worry' it wasn't in the spirit OzBargain.

Hit them up for a re-price as someone mentioned above.

  • Apologies in advance. Where to get the discounted TGG gift cards?

  • Well, got a chance to look at the C7K and C8K side by side. The C8K is significantly brighter, which makes the colour more vibrant too.

  • +1

Looks like they've dropped the price a little now

  • Darn it. Any recourse with TGG to get them to credit the difference? Anyone know from experience? They stung me $59 for delivery too which I'm none to happy about (but yes, getting the $400 gift card so being a little greedy)…
