I'm slowly getting into yum cha foods at home and I'm trying to find the best chilli sauce and oil they use for their dipping sauce like what brand and name of item is closest.
I have tried lao gan ma in the past and it was chilli but not quite yum cha dipping sauce.
I think sriracha might be the closest but the nice chilli oil they have in restaurants usually in a steel container I'm trying to find the closest to for eating with dumplings dimsum dim sim steamed rice noodle rolls etc and maybe even add to some two minute noodles.
Looking for your favourite recommendations and also what items to avoid because there is a lot of stuff out there not just in coles woolworths but Asian grocery shops as well.
I know you can make your own at home have seen many videos of it but just trying to find some premade for now or if you know of any good value cheap ones being sold in Sydney restaurants or shops I'm willing to find out and maybe go and buy some.
For example whatever sweet and spicy sauce they use in the baijia akuan steamed rice noodle roll packet is perfect for it and trying to recreate it is pretty hard so I'm wondering if anyone has found the perfect chilli sauce with a bit of kick to it but not too much.
Thank you for reading and listening to my late night cravings.
Six-Eyed Scorpion. I describe it was pure umami and put it on everything.
