One of my favourite all-time games (hence the user-name) is now available for free. Thief and Thief II are generally attributed for pioneering the stealth genre with their excellent atmosphere and superior audio …

Thief II is a little better than Thief Gold in my opinion.

Make sure you use T2Fix (https://github.com/Xanfre/T2Fix/releases) to get the game running well on modern systems.
EAX audio can be faked to a certain extent these days (with HRTF added too), as sadly (?!) soundcards are a thing of the past.

You must be an Amazon Prime member and link with Epic/GoG games accounts to redeem.

Other games are so so, but free!

      Yeah agreed. Confuses me how these deal repeats are permitted.
      That being said, getting a weekly reminder of the next phase of games being released is useful. Just feels it should be associated with the original deal somehow.

    Ahh theif, now thats a game I haven't heard of in years.

    Great game 1 and 2 but yeah easy to play, hard to master.

        Concept was great and all but yeah you had to have timing right when going from dark corners into lit areas.

    This looks super blocky. Is it still playable now? I have played Deus Ex (original) but this seems even more blockier

      Older than Deus Ex (Deus Ex was made by a lot of the team from Thief).
      So yes it's blocky - If that is a problem for you, give it a miss.
      That said, it's the atmosphere (and audio) that makes these games, not the graphics.

          Fair enough. I'm biased of course, but the game is fantastic.
          If you have a bit of patience and like world building in a medievil steampunk era you'll enjoy it I think, but of course you have to be able to tolerate the low poly graphics.
          The mod I included in the post does improve things a little.

    @Thiefsie Thankyou! I also managed to get a few other games (Wolfenstein 2, Mafia 2 and 3, Lego Starwars etc) while redeeming the Thief titles. They are such excellent and unique stealth games, especially when modded with HighRes textures 👍 🍻🏆

      Follow the instructions closely and you'll have vastly improved textures, improved models, audio, gameplay fixes and also the ability to play some great fan mission packs like The Black Parade (excellent!) and T2X (very good).

        Thanks for the link, it would have been nice to check it our, but sadly it's not working. Fortunately I have managed in the past to find some really nice HD textures and fixes that worked really well. As much as this game deserves a remaster (and so much more than many other that get that treatment) I am still very grateful for the wonderful improvements that the modders have made with this awesome classic.
