  Ok… I’m actually quite curious - why does it need to go in a downlight recess?

  Alternatively why not just patch?

    I guess I am looking at options for inside the house. I wouldnt mind 1 or 2 cameras.
    Since I have downlights already…I was just checking to see if there was an option for a camera with that form factor…with the hope that it would also act as a downlight.

  Just checking, does it also need to also look like a regular downlight and survive a moist environment?

  Because if so, I’m pretty sure most legit installers won’t touch that kind of job.
  Might be one for Uncle Ian, he’s not big on questions.

      Anyone who has cameras inside the house I just find weird…… either that or they really love their pet and want to see it when they are not home. Why would you want yourself on video walking around the house in your birthday suit? The potential security issues as well if the camera/system is hacked.

        Even more bizarre is how it has to replace a downlight. May as well of asked for a pinhole camera.

  There are some that a similar size that could use the same hole (90mm) but would still be mounted to the ceiling like this but just the inside.

  However, you would then lose your downlight. Most of the time people mount these cameras in the corner of a room to provide better coverage.
