Recommend me a Microwave 2025 edition

Hi Bargain Hunters!

Recently my microwave of 14-15 years was left on with nothing inside for who knows how long (partner thought they set a timer, they didn't) and it has decided to no longer heat food. I see there has not been a topic on this for some times (years).

I have reviewed the microwave deals list here and there are not very often varying deals but it still leaves me with no clue on what I would like to wait for (cheapo kmart microwave would see me through until a good deal).

So I am hoping with our collective mind a good option could be reheated and put on the table!

My current "dead" microwave is a LG MS3840SR 35L.

Things I really liked about this microwave:
- See through window
- Popcorn button (cooked it perfect)
- Defrost X type of meat button
- I did also enjoy the other various auto-cook options although did not use them much

Things I would enjoy in a new microwave:
- Above options
- Auto heat sensor thingy? (does this stop food from exploding?)
- Works
- Maybe not so freaken massive, I never utilized the 35L but fitting a large dinner place would suffice.

I have an electric oven and an instant pot 8L with air fryer lid, I don't believe convection would be necessary.

My budget could possibly be $100-$300, I could be swayed to go higher; especially if it would hopefully last me another 15 years.

TL;DR
Recommend me a microwave in 2025 please.

    Another LG?

Majority of them seem to go the distance, that's for sure

And they have a good jingle. And you can set it so it doesn't show the clock

If my 30+ year old panasonic ever stops working I'll buy another without a second thought.

    • Nicr 30 years, did u ever need to replace the fuse?

      • Didn't even know there's a fuse.

  • last me another 15 years

    G'luck with that.

    • I'm banking that the other half has learnt their lesson lol.

Crazy coincidence man. Just came here to search for microwave oven and saw your post. My Sharp R350Y microwave’s door just broke! Lasted for over 15 years! Wow!

I guess I’ll go with a Sharp or Panasonic or LG, they all seem to work for a decade or so.

Sharp for me.They last and last. 20+ years ( I'd def consider Panasonic though based on reputation.) The current Sharp we have is an inverter model (1200-1300 watts?) .It does the job. I preferred the 1st one's option of being able to program with the door still open. Small whinge.

I was recently in the market.
Sharp and Panasonic were the only ones I played with instore that "felt" quality. Namely the door, and to a lesser extent the control panel.
I went with the Panasonic on the mistaken belief that the beeps could be muted (only works on US models), otherwise, as you'd expect being months old, it's fine.

  • If I had my time again I would buy a Sharp without turn table and a crisper function.

There’s still time you can get that microwave I believe in you

My 7.5 yo Panasonic microwave kicked the backet a couple of months ago as well and would appreciate if anyone can recommend a quieter microwave (and preferably one that you can turn the beebs off too). The Panasonic one was kinda loud, and the beebs when it finishes cooking couldn't be turned off. Not an apartment friendly in late night/early hours of the morning.

I've been happy with the LG MS25960W 25L Inverter Microwave I got a few years back.
It still fits a large IKEA plate and is nice and small on the shelf.

    Bought a Panasonic 32L 1100W NN-ST665BQPQ a couple of years ago.

    Pros:
    It works, no cold spots

    Cons:
    Minimum increments of 10 seconds,
Reset button needs to be pushed if using in quick succession of last use, why?
    .

  • Avoid Panasonic. I got a fairly new one for free because the door wouldn't shut properly. I opened it up and a flimsy piece of sheet metal was bent. After fixing it it worked fine for a few years before the magnetron shorted out and kept tripping the circuit breaker.

Replaced it with a Breville. You can change the sounds or even turn them off completely. It also has a soft close door.
