I'm still waiting for SSD 2.5", as I repair many laptops and install Mint (also for the Lenovo micros w/extra slot). They've disappeared, too.

Amazon has 5 packs of Patriot 128gb and 240gb 2.5" ssds pretty cheap. I think the new investment is all going to m.2 form factor, so bigger sizes are cheaper in that size, but adaptors to SATA are not too expensive.

TLDR: Ultra 7 255HX, RTX 5070, 32GB memory, 2x m2 slots.
Can get it for $2700 in the education store + a 27" gaming monitor for $1 + $370 in Lenovo rewards.
Pity they haven't discounted the 5070ti model though.
2.5" is going the way of the dodo; even on desktops they're coming with less SATA headers and more m2.
