Google Pixel 7 Pro Warranty and Replacement Procedure

Hey all,

I've recently started experiencing display issues on my Pixel 7 Pro where an accumulation of black dead pixels has begun expanding from the bottom right corner. The issue happened literally overnight and I can't remember anything that would cause it to happen (drops etc).

The screen has also started flicking intermittently green, which I've found online and is a common hardware fault on these devices. I've contacted Google and they've advised that I'm eligible for an advanced replacement under warranty, however I have some minor scratches on the display, including one over the black spot area (this happened long before the black spots started appearing).

However, being an advanced replacement where they put a hold on my card until the faulty product is sent back, I'm concerned that Google will strongarm me into not accepting the return, and instead go through with the charge (which is full rrp of the pixel 7 pro in 2023 - 1300), and I would not go through with at all if it were an option (other options are much cheaper).

Does anyone have any experience dealing with the Google RMA process, particularly for minor display scratches? Do they completely void warranty?

Had the same happen to mine. No drama. Received new/refurbished phone and sent my damaged one back. Seemless

Had a similar experience. The screen did have a minor scratch. No issues in the RMA process with google. Google RMA experience has always been good for me. With the phone, watch and the buds.

You can insist on a new device instead of a refurb one and depending on the agent, they might approve a new unit.

If you are still skeptical, you can go for the normal replacement process (instead of the advanced replacement).

  • My experience was that I argued the fingerprint sensor doesn't work despite all my tricks and suggestions like re registering, doing it in a dark room, do multiple registrations of the same finger, download a driver for it etc. Then they RMAed it no problem, I was also worried they would reject it as "expected behaviour.
No scratches on my phone screen but really indelible smudging on the back from plastic residue caused by my plastic case.

They did mess up though, they sent me a refurbished phone with no sim tray and wouldnt/couldnt send me a sim tray so I had to send them back the phone again and wait a new phone replacement to arrive.
