Parking a number for two years - cheapest option

My cousin is leaving the country for 2 years but when he comes back wants to use his same mobile number.

What is the cheapest option for him to park his number on a phone plan over the 2 years?

is it only Voda 365 pre-paid ?

Not sure but, check this out

    http://www.tpg.com.au/mobile/pay-as-you-go

$1 a month plus $20 deposit, so that means 2yrs will cost $44.

    • The $20 charge for a sim on top of that takes it to $64 total, which is more than the Voda 365. at $60 for the 2 years.

On option is savvytel, where you can just top it up for 6 months $10, then $10 for each 6 months and the credit rolls over. Or if you are really tight you start with 6 months, then top up after 1 year. You lose the credit for the 6 months, but you have a 6 months grace before topping up again

eg 1 Jan thru 1 July $10 credit (can make calls)
1 Jul thru 1 Jan no credit (can only receive calls)
Then start cycle again. (But watch you dont let the last 6month cycle go over as you will lose number)

  • Do not trust Savvytel.

You may have a point, but to make it you should elaborate otherwise how can we trust what you say.

  • Sorry posted on my phone and forgot to paste the rest.

There are cases I've had of them eating credit and disconnecting sim cards for no reason.
Several people on Whirlpool have has the issue as well.

    • fair enough - thanks for the links

  • Yeah think voda 365 is most convenient for set and forget for 1 year.

    • apologies - check Just mobile, my comments were about the wrong provider (savvytel), that shows how often we recharge :)

  • Don't forget the port in and port out fees!!!!

    • If your friend is not already on prepaid, tell him to make sure he is prior to attempting any port, as there will then be no fees for the port.
