"This may not be for everyone on OzBargain"
I know many of you already find the best deals yourself. But if you’ve got a partner, family member, or just don’t have time to sort it out — this could genuinely save you money without the stress. Last post I did on Ozbargain I helped someone save over $700 over 12 months. There is 0 downside to seeing how much you could save.

"Can’t I do this myself for free?"
Absolutely, and many do. But if it were that simple, millions of Aussies wouldn’t still be overpaying with the big providers. Churna is here for the people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or just don’t have the time to hunt down the best deals. Think of us as your in-person gateway to the hundreds of smaller telcos that don’t have physical stores. Our 25% fee usually pays for itself in just a few months and the rest of the savings go straight back into your pocket.

  • But Google exists.

    • Unfortunately Google and AI doesn't help people switch in person, this is the biggest barrier I have found with the people I have helped as to why they haven't switched away from the big 3 telcos. Helped a elderly man recently who was paying $105 for Home NBN and $65 a month for him mobile. Saved him over $1140 a year. Helped another family with 2 kids save over $1400 over the year.

      • You just fill out the new telco's form online? Huh? Or go to the store??? Not sure how this is a difficult process.

        • No, I visit in person if based in WA and do the swap for them. If interstate or remote perth its less personal but i'll provide remote phone or video support to make the switch happen.

          • @Churna: But the customer can do this already by themselves, so what is the bargain ???

            • @WoodYouLikeSomeCash: in theory, you could also paint your house for free but your sometimes better off getting an expert to do it for you ;) I understand this isn't not for you, but there are millions of Aussies overpaying with the big telcos and I am passionate about saving them $! the bargain is i've lowered my standard fee. Just for fun, would you like to see what you could save?

              • @Churna:

you could also paint your house for free

How is painting your house the same as switching phone plans? Painting your house is an extensive task requiring skill, switching phone plans is a simple 15 minute task and all you need to do is put in your details, phone number and you've switched. Super easy.

                • @WoodYouLikeSomeCash: You'd be surprised how many people are too afraid to make the switch to a provider without a store front cause they dont understand the process.

  • How's is this a bargain ???

    • Ive lowered the standard fee and included a free 11 month follow up.

      • But your charging for something that is always free using Google?

    • A bargain for the uninitiated I guess ⁉️

  • How is this a bargain?

    • I've lowered the standard fee and included a free 11 month follow up.

  • This means you walk away with 80% of the savings!

Or, as 99% of people here would do, I can do the research myself (or wait for someone to post a deal) and walk away with 100% of the savings.

Am I the only one with a spare 5 minutes to send friends and family a decent price on an internet/telco plan?

    • Please go out and help your friends and fam! Way to many people overpaying with the big telcos just cause they have a storefront.

  • Wrong place to advertise mate, we are Ozbargainers, last 12 months my phone with unlimited national calls/sms cost me $60, and my internet has cost me less than that for huge amounts of data that I cant even use, no way you can beat that.

    • For sure 95% of the Ozbargains viewers are onto it and hopefully this post encourages some people to ask their friends and family what they are paying to help them out! Last time I posted here I helped someone in WA save over $700 a year on their Telco bills.

      • Well done, not hating on you.but you must of known you'd be negged for this here.

Hopefully you get help someone else who can't do it themselves.

        • Cheers mate, Appreciate it and i'm glad your on such an awesome deal already.

      • Lol so $180 a yr vs $60 year, why would you even point that out to me.

        • Because life is strange , like acronyms …

  • For the last few years I've been doing presentations at U3A's in Victoria about changing to MVNO's and NBN alternatives. People are usually flabbergasted at how much they can save, and then angry that they've been overpaying for years. I don't charge anything, it's not a business to me, just a hobby. A number of people have even said I've changed their lives. OzBargainers are more savvy than most people about this stuff, but it is absolutely true that a lot of people are too scared to change out a Sim card. The Churna business leaves me feeling slightly uncomfortable, but I have no doubt that they can save a lot of people a lot of money, because that's been my experience. My U3A sessions go for 1.5 hours, and roam across all household electronics, inc laptops, tablets, phones, plans, broadband, TV's, etc.

    • Thanks for sharing — your presentations sound incredibly valuable. I’d love to learn more, would you mind sending me a DM? I’d be keen to explore hosting one locally.

I totally get the unease. The fear and confusion around switching is exactly why I started Churna cause I wanted to make a win,win business.

As for the 25% fee, I usually explain it like this: it's equivalent to them staying with their current provider for just 3 more months. Plus, I help avoid extra expenses like buying a new modem, which people often think they need (often my fee is less then they were going to spend on a new modem). Many clients also were about to switch to a “cheaper” big brand (for example Telstra to Optus) but just haven't got around to it yet when I found something even better for them — and they still came out WAY ahead, even after my fee.

Really appreciate what you’re doing. Hopefully more people talk to their friends and families about moving away from the big telcos. Can't believe Telstra's base plan is now $70 a month, imagine how many thousands of people are on that when they use little to no data.
