AliExpress Return and Shipping Questions

So i recently filed for refund on an AliExpress purchase as item was not described properly. Initially the refund was denied, i intended to dispute this but I hadn't the time. Anyway, long story short Aliexpress have now offered a refund.

Their offer is as follows

Current solutions

Solution1:Return goods,full refund 191.60 AUD ( pays the return shipping fee )

To me, that is ambiguous on who is to pay the shipping. I am yet to accept the offer. I am also unsure if it would need to be shipped to aus or to china.

It also states under "proof guide"

Please provide the official statement issued by the logistics company regarding the parcel and the product. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

To me that implies I need to provide the shipping and they will not send me a label? Or no? I have never had to return anything from AliExpress before

  • What is the solution 2 then?

    • There is no solution 2. I either agree or disagree with solution 1

      • I see, if the initial refund was denied, then it seems you pay the return shipping. Is it 'pay' or 'pays'?

        • its "pays". The item sale page says free 90 day return? so puzzled. Went on their online chat and their customer service agent had no idea whatsoever

@Bruceflix: I returned few items and never paid return shipping fees and all were to Aus warehouses in Sydney, but they never denied refund at the first instance. Apparently seller denied paying shipping fee and AE found a midway. You need to clarify who pays shipping, if you are then beware even if you ship it you may be scammed by the seller. If seller pays shipping, there must be a free return shipping label attached to the solution page somewhere.

            • @[Deactivated]: Yeah, trying with online chat to get an answer but nothing? I'm guessing if i need to pay for shipping back to China I may as well just keep the item

Last time I returned something to Ali, it was sent to an address in NSW.

    • +1 i think it was someone they employ to be a freight forwarder/inspector to make sure you're not trying to rip them off

  • In what way was item not described properly? Just out of interest.

  • Return address has always been to Sydney for me. It's just domestic postage.

    • Well if they can clarify that it will be to an AU address I'd be happy with that.

  • 50/50 you'll get a return label or have to post back yourself and get refunded after delivery. You can try calling their customer service number during business hours to clarify.

Nope, that is you paying the shipping back.

They want you to provide a tracking number and best to include pictures of the return label etc.

  • If the item is faulty or SNAD, onus is on seller to pay for return postage under ACL.

Even if it's in their T& C they can't override ACL.

Never used Ali, NFI if ACL applies, but if they have points to return in Aust, it would seem so.

The only way they can ask you to pay return shipping is for change of mind returns. Perhaps a restocking fee.

  • Update: Aliexpress provided a shipping label to an address in NSW
