TP-Link Tapo Smart Light Bulb 5-Pack $54 Delivered @ Tapo AU Store

270

Been looking for cheap smart bulbs and literally two days after buying a 5 pack of these guys for $69 (which seemed cheap in the first place) they’re now down to $54 with free shipping.
They’ve got the B22 and E27 models available in five, three and single packs.
https://au.store.tapo.com/products/smart-wi-fi-light-bulb-mu…

They’re definitely a budget option and note that these are NOT the new matter-compatible bulbs, but at this price they’re pretty hard to beat.

Also available on their new official eBay AU shop for those of you who have eBay vouchers.

  • Does TP Link have smart downlight ?

Why 5? What if you need 6 ?

    • +3

Because 6 is just 5 with commitment issues. Stick with what you can trust.

    • Who has 6 lights, that's just preposterous.

    • +1

      Yeah, 5 is odd.

Can this work with alexa or smart life? Thanks

Why not click the link and take 2 seconds to read, all have you always been spoon fed?

    • +1

      Alexa and the Google equivalent

  • What is the brightness of these ? In Watts or lumen, I couldn't see anything on the website, would these or the plain white ones be any good for outside porch lights ?

    • +1

60-watt equivalent - LED bulb produces up to 806 lumens of white brightness and has a dimming range from 1% to 100%.

They're not super bright but enough for a bedroom

    • +2

It's a bit disappointing. I wish it had 200 more lumens.

      • -1

You'd never notice, unless a side-by-side comparison, and then not easy. Brightness perception is a log scale.

        • i had 2 of these in a specific room, and then switched to non-smart for higher lumens. It was very visible change

          • @freewhere: More likely the colour temp. Or the difference was more than 200.
e.g., if you dim a smart light to a nominal 50%, and measure the power consumption or use a light meter, it is far less.

        • Thx McFly I'm aware of that product. Waiting for it to drop to $11 in a lightning deal somewhere

    • +2

800 lumens and they don’t feel super bright. I’ve also got a few 1000lm Lifx bulbs that feel considerably brighter, particularly when showing colours.

I’d say it’s good for a bedroom or a small study but in a large room or kitchen etc you’d either need a couple of them or go something a bit brighter.
