Recommendation for Portable Bluetooth Speakers

Was about to buy a JBL Charge 5, it's about $140-ish, mixed reviews.

Any good ones at similar price point?

Doesn't have to be super rugged or waterproof.

  • I have a Charge 5 and it is very good…

    $137 at GGC.

    • Harman Luna also $137 at Amazon rn.

has slightly deeper bass and better sound, but less maximum volume and battery life than Charge 5. also looks a bit less rugged. which OP might like they said.

      • Thanks, will check it out. Don't need super loud, Luna is stereo it seems, not that it matters much in that size.

both Charge 5 and Luna are mono.

Soundcore Boom 2 drops to $175 and well reviewed but some people will say it's still mono because only one woofer speaker.

These days my main ones I use are: jbl clip 5, Anker motion plus, and Marshall Emberton iii… honestly I reckon they are all very similar. I personally can’t tell that much difference between them. The Emberton 3 looks really nice as a display piece on the desk though I guess.

  • For use on the bus or train?

  • I prefer Bose SoundLink Flex and if you could stretch that far, SoundLink Max Portable; but audio is wholly subjective so choose the one you rate.

    • That's a bit of stretch, more than triple. :D

      • Have you been into JB for a listening session? I also like how Bose speakers can be stereo paired; but also know a few people who are team JBL

I have Charge 5, it's excellent for sound clarity and loudness. Lasts ages too.
