Best Earbuds for The GYM between $100 - $300

I'm looking to buy some earbuds for working out at the gym and the occasional run, ideally earbuds that won't fall out and have ANC. Maybe something that would be good for the train as well on the way to work.

Would love some recommendations for the price range I've got.

I was tempted by the Powerbeats Pro 2, but have seen mixed reviews on it. If anyone can vouch for them, I'd be happy to push my budget.

Thanks

  • Buy a Sennheiser in that price range or so. https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/en-AU/p/momentum-true-wir…

  • Couple of people at work have been raving about the Bose Ultra Open earbuds.. but damn they’re expensive

    Best earbuds for the GYM

I thought to myself….don't tell me there's another new Chinese car manufacturer.

I’m surprised the names are getting more and more like a random brand you’d find on Amazon like Lubluelu - I reckon next Chinese brand should make it sound super Australian like ‘Bloodyrippa’ or at least name one of the model like, ‘Keith’

Not the answer you’re after but I’ve been recommending the shokz openrun.

I used to use AirPod pro or wf1000m3 but found it annoying for heavy lifts like deadlifts or rounds of burpees.

The problem with the Shokz (which I also use) are they don't do anything to block out whatever crap music the gym is already blasting out.

  • Shokz openrun pro 2. I have an older version. Easy to use, charges in less than 30mins, holds charge for over 5hrs, comfortable to use and wont fall off. I use it for running.

Have shokz, great for outdoors but in gym they're the complete opposite to ANC so not what OP is chasing.

  • If you keep your ears clean, AirPod Pro is great. They are so light so they don't want to fall out of your ears.

  • Powerbeats Pro 2 work very well for gym, happy to answer any questions.

    • I've heard issues around the fit being a bit… well, not great (with the various tips struggling to keep it sealed in the ear —- i have a bigger head, for context). How's your experience with that?

What's the battery life like? 10 hours seems to be what people are noting.

Fit isn't an issue for me personally, the different tips are handy though and you just have to play around with them to see what's best

I use them with the heart rate tracking and ANC when I'm at the gym, for probably 3-4hrs per week. They last a month or so until I have to charge them up again, so somewhere in between 10 and 16 hours (worst case scenario) I'd say.

  • I've had several different pairs over a long time, recently bought a pair of Gen 2 Jlab Epic Air Sport ANC for $80 off Ebay & they've been excellent.

Great battery life, very comfortable, as good ANC as earphones can have for mine. Haven't fallen out yet & I run (waddle) on the tready, pilates, weight training, etc. Compact size in their chargeable case.

The only slightly annoying thing is that the in-built charging cable is only 7cms long & is like a male end USB A type input which I haven't figured out a way to lengthen.

I have a pair and upgraded from the 1st gen Powerbeats pro. Primarily because had constant connectivity issues with the first gen. Good news, they have sorted that out with the second gen. This means you can use it normally with the watch, phone etc and it synchronises as advertised.

I also use it for gym/running. The criticisms are on the sound quality. What Ive found is the seal is the key. If you decide to try it, make sure that you play with the sizes including possibly a different one for each ear and actually follow the apple support article if you want to get the best fit. This will get you the best sound, If you can do that then it will match the bass of the previous gen with more detail in the sound. If you can't, then the sound quality will be inferior than the first gen. The ANC works but it works too well for me. I wish I can reduce its amplfication but its still something I am experimenting with,

I was always getting these so this is not a comparison between non Apple products. Other positives is that they are light as and secure. USB-C and wireless charging is a bonus and it just makes things easy when you are carrying around chargers,
