Battery Operated Gardening Tool Combo Kits

Hi,

Looking to get a bunch of battery operated gardening tools at once. I expected this to be common and a good way to get a bit of a discount, but with a couple of minor exceptions I'm just coming across separate tools.

Don't need much, even just a mower and hedge trimmer would be a good start. In fact, that's probably enough- don't need a leaf blower.

Definitely looking for at least 36V though.

Would have thought that the subforum of "Find Me A Bargain" would have said it.

  • Your best bet is to go Ryobi as your other brands with kits are still going to be a lot pricier and makes Ryobi the best bargain.

I mean, you could go Ozitio, too, to save a little more.

If you just need a mower and hedge trimmer, then what combo kits are you after?

Ozito PXC 36v mower was recently on sale for $268. It works well for the money. Might be on sale again soon. Includes 2x 4Ah batteries. The hedge trimmer is a bit pricey and haven't seen it on sale yet.

You may find a blower is actually necessary for clean up. There's a $99 kit that includes one and a grass trimmer for tidying up garden/lines.

You'll collect other tools in the range over time too.

That $99 kit is quite good - got it for each of our daughters a couple of Christmases ago.

I guess literally any kit that contains at least a 36V mower and a hedge trimmer. Anything else would be a bonus, if it's likely to come in handy. I'm m a total novice at gardening, but will be taking care of a small lawn and a largish volume of hedges. Possibly a leaf blower, but the garden is a weird layout of multiple levels and bushes/hedges which will likely make a rake more useful.

But bundled deals seem very uncommon, unless I'm missing something?

Combination kits seem the norm for power tools, so I'd expected similar for gardening tools.

Combo kits in the tool buying sense generally offer multiple tools in a package rather than two tools you’re after specifically and batteries (though it depends on promotions at the time).

Batteries are where you want to invest, as they can add up quickly. Advice would also depend on whether you want to double up batteries on household, industrial cordless tools as some brands offer batteries that are compatible with their OPE and industrial tools.

Sometimes a brand will comp you a skin (tool by itself no battery) via redemption when you buy an expensive tool with batteries.

I don’t know what is out there specific to what you want so hit up the tool sites Sydney Tools, Bunnings, Tool Kit Depot, Total Tools. I’d suggest probably buying a mower kit that has batteries as it’s more likely to get something comp’ed with it as it’s an expensive item, and then the hedge trimmer as a skin.

It’s also hard to give advice because you haven’t indicated said anything about usage case, big yard, small yard, thick brush, thin brush, overhead work, grass type, size of the area you’re mowing etc etc. Even if I have a small area, I generally tend to go with a better tool because I’ve found the smaller tools can struggle. Personally I’ve got Makita 36V OPE, which I like because it allows me to use one of the single 18V batteries in a single skin or for a smaller industrial tool.
