Does Anyone Own or Have Tried The Speediance Gym Monster 2?

I'm considering buying the Speediance Gym Monster 2 and would love to hear from current owners. What are the pros and cons?

My main concern is the subscription model. While there’s a non-subscription option ("free" lifetime membership), I’m worried they might stop updating it, similar to what Sleep8 did, making the machine less useful without a subscription. It could end up feeling like paying for a gym membership.

PS: I am buying this over a all in one gym because of space.

Did you actually buy a bed with a subscription service?

    • No I didn't. I wanted to purchase it because I sleep hot, but after I learnt there was a subscription, I decided not to. I'd be happy to pay a subscription if the bed didnt cost $5k.

      • Just buy a normal home gym.

        • I would but as per my post, I don't have enough space. A normal home gym costs the same as the speediance, if I had space, I would just buy the home gym.

          • @xNik: A normal home gym does not cost that much. Your thing is a bench with a tv bolted to it. Probably half a million bench and weight sets on marketplace for $100.

            • @brendanm: Yea that is true, but the cables are the thing I can't find. Slim cable machine

  • Obviously you got money to burn and probably don’t care about compound lifts like deadlifts or dips/ pull-up/ chin up. I’m going to also assume not much experience at gym if you want to depend on a set routine virtual pt offering. Looks fine I suppose if my assumptions are correct and given you say limited space.

FWIW my inside gym occupies a 3x 3 room. You don’t need a big space for a functional training room. I got lucky though with the placement of two brick walls for a pullup/chin up bar.

    • I have a couple years of gym experience when I was in my uni days. However, with work and life, I find it hard to find time to go to the gym and lack of motivation (getting dressed, driving there, and waiting for equipment to be available). I honestly, don't even have a 3x3 space.

      • If space is that limited then go for it I guess. I can’t think of anything else that covers that range of movement in that foot print but man … smaller than a 3 x 3, I’d almost imagine you using this thing in a walk in wardrobe …

  • I bought the Speediance Gym Pal about 18+ months ago and absolutely love it. I did try out the Gym Monster in their Port Melbourne demo gym so can answer some questions that you may have.

Just like you space was my issue and our local gym was being rebuilt and the time horizon was 2+ years. Between the membership my wife and I would have spent on the gym during that time we have managed to come out ahead with this purchase.

I got the "free lifetime membership" and its been more than what I need. I generally use the free weight lift option when working out but the workouts in there are pretty good.

  • We have been using a Peloton Bike+ and a Peloton Guide for over 2 years now. $59/mth is a bit, but it helps if the equipment gets daily use from various family members. Not sure if this is something comparable to what you're looking to get?

  • Definitely test one first if possible.
