Scarpa Kailash Trek GTX Hiking Boots $405.96 Delivered @ Trek and Travel

10

Both Trek&Travel and Wallaroo have this on sale for $405

I had Paddy to price match it and got the wide fit version.

From trekking to backpacking, the Kailash Trek GTX are quality and reliable boots with a water-resistant suede upper and GORE-TEX® lining. Kailash Trek GTX is characterised by a new improved collar and stylish eyelets that make Kailash Trek a great-looking shoe.

The fit is stable and precise thanks to the up-to-the-toe lace system, supported by new steel hooks and a polymeric compound. Protection is assured by the 3D TPU protective toe cap. Great shock absorption comes through the low-density PU innersole and grip from the Biometric Trek sole with Vibram® outsole.

  • How come it’s still so expensive?

    • 3D TPU toe cap, thats why!

      • a real shoe made in Italy, that's why!

No ones heard of name for 400 tf

I thought that Scarpa is one of the most established hiking shoe brands. Not probably well known though.

      • +1

It is. Massive in Europe where they have proper mountains. Definitely a top brand in the outdoor game

    • +1

Scarpa is one of the best outdoor footwear brands, on par with La Sportiva or Lowa, if not better.

    • +2

I think this product is not for you… Scarpa is hiking high-end.

    • Very good brand but I wouldn’t pay $400. Maybe a deal at half that.

      • +1

For most hikers, the last gen Lowa Renegades would be a better option, at around $250.
The most budget-friendly one would be the Merrell moab 3, at around $150.

Great boots from a world class brand. But only buy if you’re doing some SERIOUS multi-day stuff. Otherwise, trail runners will suit for most hikes people undertake

    • Scarpa and La Sportiva are becoming pretty well known Streetwear or Gorpcore shoes now. You might see people wearing them and only doing a coffee run and hiking Surry Hills.

  • I own a pair and they are great boots. They've held up very well to lots of abuse and managed to retain their waterproofness even after several years. Even on a snowshoeing trip when the outer material was saturated for days, the interior was still dry.

    • Definitely. Unlike LOWA, Salomon and many other brands, Scarpa and Crispi offer 'full sock' Gore-tech lining

btw, if someone is going to buy a pair, remember to throw away the factory insole and replace with a better one.
I'm a cheap guy so I bought the Scholl LiquiFlex Extra Support from ChemistWarehouse (they have Scholl insoles on sale at the moment).
You may try other insoles like Superfeet Hike Support etc.
