      Wow! ATL!

      Select-A-Size also ATL. Didn't like it before, but after getting used to it, it does reduce a bit of waste. Not so much using only half sheet, but more often 1.5 instead of 2 sheets.

      • Then not enough to offset the 25% price diff with full-size

        • Price difference is only 7% when factoring total roll length.

          90 sheets x 15cm VS 60 sheets x 20cm

          • @eggboi: Full sheets are 22.5cm, so theyre exactly the same amount of paper, just cut differently.

            • @ATangk: Says 21cm sheet length on amazon product listing, but i don’t have these on hand so can’t confirm. Either way, ironically the smaller sheets are more likely to be wasted because you will probably grab 2 small sheets for most situations instead of 1 larger sheet, and the 2 smaller sheets use more of the roll. I ended up going with the normal sheets in any case. Thrilling discussion haha

              • @eggboi: 21cm is the sheet width, same for both.
                SAL (15 x 21cm) and full size (22.5 x 21 cm)

                • @ATangk: Thanks for clarifying. They sure make it clear as mud. They should change unit pricing comparison to $ per metre.

          Good point, I have never considered that.

          According to Viva, Select-A-Size is the same roll as the Regular but with 30 more sheets: 90 smaller sheets vs 60 regular sheets.

          I always thought that Select-A-Size is half sheet, turns out it's 2/3.

          Just a very rough estimate: if half the time I use 2 smaller sheets, rest of the time I use 3 smaller sheets, I will get 36 uses from a Select-A-Size roll (18 x 2 + 18 x 3).

          If half the time I use 1 regular sheet, the rest use 2 regular sheets, I will get 40 uses from a regular roll (20 x 1 + 20 x 2).

          So, in my use case the Select-A-Size rolls are 36% dearer:

          • Select-A-Size: $10.97 ÷ 12 rolls ÷ 36 => $0.02539 per use
          • Regular: $8.99 ÷ 12 rolls ÷ 40 => 0.01873 per use

          Obviously this is only true because I rarely use a single Select-A-Size sheet, in multiples they are larger than regular sheets.

          • @browser: I think… we should move on from this deal and start browsing for other deals. 😂

            • @ATangk: Haha!

              I have ordered the regular rolls as well, will make a note how long each lasts.

              • @browser: Hate to do this but the new viva rolls full size that arrived are 24 x 19.5cm. I didn’t order any of the SAL so unsure if they’re also smaller than the old 15 x 21.

                The new size means slightly less paper for us :(

                468sqcm vs 472.5 sqcm. Or 1% less.

                • @ATangk: I ordered both:

                  • Select-A-Size: 16cm x 19.5cm x 90 sheets
                  • Regular: 24cm x 19.5cm x 60 sheets

                  Same amount of paper towel.

                  • @browser: 1% less paper for both. And its less 'square', although perhaps for S-A-S more usable.

  • Tried these ones the sheet way too small compare to normal

    • Yeah, that's how people ended up using multiple of smaller sheets that are actually more than regular sheets.

      Ingenious marketing though, sell at higher price and make people use more while thinking they are using less.

      • Shrinkflation to the best!
