Manufacturers are being very sneaky with their products making it rather difficult to compare value for money against other products.
Viva now make select a size paper towels with each piece being much smaller than traditional square size. Therefore price per roll or per 100 sheets etc means nothing anymore unless comparing with same product in a different shop.
On my last visit to Woolies I stood there with a calculator and worked out the square meter rate for paper towels across the stocked items and found that the ones on special per square meter were still more than one or two which were at their normal price.

Yes, same ply number. Definitely Not comparing home brand to the Viva. Next time at Woolies I will take a photo of the stock and set up a spreadsheet with the data

They also reduced the width of their standard paper towels recently, from 21.5cm to 19.5cm - main reason I noticed is my cheap plastic paper towel holders don't handle the smaller width. The length however increased from 22.5cm to 24cm, so there isn't much change in overall size at the moment, but it sets them up nicely for future shrinkflation.
My main irritation with them lately though is the perforations haven't been as good, making them harder to tear off neatly - I expect the occasional bad batch but it's been persistent enough I've now switched to Strike Pro (not as good as Viva when wet but they fit my holders and the perforations are better).
So then is this a bargain or should we wait

Amazon's response has been to lower S&S for some products to 5%, as noted in a previous news release. However, I don't think they've started implementing 5% as of yet.

Have found the perforations on these to be awful over the last 6 months or so. Has been so bad that we've switched away from Viva.
Just received the new viva rolls (full size) and they are 24 x 19.5cm. The old ones were 22.5 x 21.
The new size means slightly less paper for us.

Yes! Received today and looked at it, thought that looks a little smaller than usual. Put it up against the Aldi roll I have and sure enough, about 10mm narrower (10.5mm evidently)
Seems Handee is worse, they didn't even add to the length and are 22x20cm. Is there anything they wont shrinkflate…

Nah, we get by tearing a sheet in half if we don't need a whole one..
I imagine you're right, I'm pretty sure they'd be cutting the rolls on the same machine, and just perforating differently. Rolls are the same length.

Yes, both 19.5cm.
They are smaller now, previously 21cm.
Select-A-Size from April and November was 15cm x 21cm x 90 sheets.
Now 16cm x 19.5cm x 90 sheets.
Shame I already got Select-A-Size. Ah well one for under the house, it doesn’t expire.
