Best Bang for Buck Ride on Mower

After many years of being told a zero turn mower is the best thing since slice bread I have decided to bite the bullet and upgrade.

I am considering a machine that is either 60" or 72".

With the upsize of deck I am also wanting a faster machine on the straight line not just turning speed.

The land is about 2 and a bit acres of lawn with slight elevation, mainly level.

The machines I have been using have been great over the last 20 years.

John Deere: X340 48"

Stihl Viking: Mt830 44"

      Hi JV,

      Those listed machines are:

      -50"
      -42"
      -52"
      -42"

      • JV needs to improve his ChatGPT Commands to ensure that it fits your desired of 60" to 72"

        • I actually ran my post on chat GPT and the top listed mower it came back with is only available in 60" and not 72" as it stated.

60 or 72 will be a huge machine. Youll pay well for the extra size. Assuming youve got easy access to storage and not many trees?

How much would it cost to have someone mow for you?

Anyway, Ive used a Ferris, Scag Tiger Cub and a couole of toros inn48" size. Toro are cheap and nasty. Ferris was pretty good but I didn't use it much. Scag is a good solid machine.

  • Basically all lawn except for handful of trees in the back.

I think it’s $300-400 wouldn’t be worth it as we cut grass every week in summer.

Plus I enjoy cutting it so I would pay someone to let me do it.

What’s the price increase from 50” to plus 60” ?

  • I'b be going electric if you can, but price will be huge like $80k for the greenworks one. think the ryobi is a smaller deck than what you want. not sure of what the other electric brands available are like.

You've made a case for not going electric. Which is sound advize.

      • Some solar powered sheep will do the job also.
