As part of Amazon's mid year sale, they're having pretty big discounts on Maui Jim's up to 35% off.
Think it's a good deal considering this brand almost never goes on sale.
Example: Maui Jim Hookipa Rimless Sunglasses $181.35 (RRP $279.00)

Awesome find! I find their lenses to be the best, will be getting a pair as they rarely go on sale.
Have the Ho'okipa, great optics and very lightweight making them good for sports/hiking, but they scratch easily and I am not a fan of the look at all, very daggy. Might have a browse for a wayfarer style.
Is the warranty also 2 years when purchased through Amazon?
Rimless are the plastic lenses while the enclosed frames are glass.
Not all, I have a pair of enclosed which are also plastic. It depends on the style. The sporty ones which are lightweight tend to be plastic.
This is absolutely not always true.
Also they have more than one type of plastic lenses
Really,
I only mentioned this as a general rule to make people aware that there are two types of lenses,
and you don't want to be buying the plastic lenses if you can help it in this type of price range.
Just my 2c.
Which ones are the most durable, as in won't scratch?
Glass is better for scratch resistance and optics are far superior. But if you drop them from a height onto a hard surface, one of the glass lenses can easily crack. Like the screen on a phone. Last time i bought MJ replacement lenses they cost me about $100
I've never seen Maui Jim on sale. Good timing because I tried a pair at the airport last week. Saved about $80 off RRP. Thanks OP!
Sunglasses Hut used to have 2 for 1 Father’s Day Deal back in the day.
I bought a couple pairs for the old man and myself back then .
Was a wicked deal and have replaced a few lenses through the years.
Great for around the coast or water and behind a glass windscreen ,
be it boat , plane or car .
Eye watering prices even after the sale… still good value but not a close-your-eyes-and-buy kinda deal.
Definitely. Need to try on and see what styles fit face shape and size
I've had Maui Jim's before in polarised and they're definitely good quality, with glass lens not plastic lens
Thanks OP, i dont ever recall seeing these on sale before
Great find. These are my go-to.
Btw if you ever break the frames or lenses etc I have found their customer service to be brilliant. They have comp'd me a free lens replacement twice, replaced a broken arm for free and more.
Why should one buy this when you can get ray ban foor same or cheaper price?
The polarised lenses are waaaay better. Try them looking at the water sometime, if you can
Ray ban is made by Luxottica bulk which owns like 95% all brands. Maui Jim is Independent quality.
Not anymore. Acquired by Kering a few years ago, not sure if they are any less evil than Luxottica
Comfort, vision, aesthetics and more. I’d rate MJs easily above any other brand I’ve worn.
You'd be comparing to Ray-Ban's Chromance range to be comparable.
Because its Maui Jim. The are worth the premium.
I have a 14 year old pair of Banyans I just sent back because one of the arm snapped for the first time, and it just cost me shipping for them to put a new one on - even tho its 14 years old.
Thanks OP!
My wife accidentally dropped what she was carrying and it landed smack bang on top of my very well worn pair of Maui Jim Peahi glasses.
Cost $142 including postage for Maui Jim service centre to send me out what was effectively a brand new pair.
If you can spare more money the costa Glass 580 polarised lenses are top notch!
Still worth it if you need prescription lenses? Hard to find how much the lenses alone cost.
Maui Rx lenses are outrageously expensive
Wow so expensive. At this rate I'll never find a reason to upgrade from my cancer council sunglasses.
Is the cost just for "style", or do these have improved features too?
Cancer Council sunshades are a plastic lens , at least all the ones I’ve bought lately.
MJ’s top quality sunglasses are polarised and glass , so a lot clearer than cheap plastic and the coloured lenses also make a big difference driving aswell,
or out on the water.
I do recommend those slip on straps for the back of the arms if you’re being physical as it’s still too easy to scratch the glass lenses unfortunately.
Is there anything indicating how long the sale will go for?
Are you waiting to get blind before purchasing one?
No, but I don't have the disposable income to drop $200 on a pair of sunglasses without warning. I get paid on Friday, and I'm hoping that the sale is still on at that point.
That is a good reason.
Unfortunately, Amazon's mid-year sale has finished, no more discounted Maui Jims.
I reckon check again after Friday, there might be some returns to find on warehouse deals (Amazon Resale).
Thanks OP, snatched a pair! Already have a pair of Maui Jims and they have been amazing, highly recommended to anyone.
