  • Hopefully Qantas follow with a promo!

    • Qantas will always be either in October (extremely rare) or Feb/March only.

  • Dang, booked earlier today BEFORE activating this. Does anyone know if the bonus will still be credited?

    • To be eligible, members must activate the offer on this page through the Benefit Selector and book an eligible Virgin Australia flight between 12:01am 3 June 2025 and 11:59pm 13 June 2025 (Promotion Period)

Welp, there goes my stack of bookings earlier in the year.

      • +4

If you made those bookings before April 2nd, you might be better off anyway. For bookings made from that date onwards, they've introduced a earnings model based on how much you spend rather than the zones/distance you fly.

      • I don't believe this is a thing. Virgin makes no mention of a 24 hour grace anywhere on their cancellation policy.

Cancellation fees (or lack thereof) solely depends on fare type purchased.

      • +1

That only applies to US flights (when they had them/codeshares). It's an unofficial 2 hour grace period the last time I called.

        • Looks like you are right, only available in US and EU because of their laws.

  • I am in the same.boat . Travelling this Wednesday and booked early this afternoon. Hope they honor consodering booking period is from 12 am

    • They won’t honour.

      • Happy news ..i got double credits for booking made in morming of 3rd June before actovating the offer. Happy days

      • They will 100% honour. I been with Qantas since 2009. DSc only applies if you fly on QANTAS flight. You probably booked partner airlines.

  • How much status credit needed for next tier? (Gold)

    • +2

500 status credits to qualify for gold. 400 in subsequent year to maintain. Be aware of new rules about half of qualifying SCs needing to be flown by yourself on Virgin flights.

      • -2

        One return flight enough?
Or should I just go bonus point?
        Thanks mate

        • Status credits earned are now based on how much you spend on the ticket. $12 = 1SC (2 SC during this promo). So if you need 500 Status credits, you'd need to spend $3000 in the next 10 days. If you can do that in one return domestic flight, then have at it, but you also need 4 eligible sectors to hit gold.

          • @Grassy21: better to choose the reward points then

            • @hishaken: Depends what your flying habits are. The timing is really lucky for me as I have quite a few flights to book. This will push me back up to platinum and kick start me retaining for the following year. Whereas another couple of thousand points won't make as much difference to me.

          • @Grassy21: Worse than that, it's only 1 SC for $24 for Lite fares, as many people buy since they're the lead-in (advertised) fare in many cases.

VA really trashed their program with these changes.

          • @Grassy21: I don't think sectors are a thing any more with the new earning rate for SCs? It's now 50% of flights have to be on VA metal

            • +1

@kerfuffle: Sectors are still relevant if you need to retain or upgrade before 01 Oct. After 01 Oct they go away.

      • Thanks but uhhh now reading up on the new rules for status SUCK. Think I am going to drop from gold.

  • +2

Why does it have to be a week after I booked flights man 😭

  • Only one flight, or can u use it for multiple bookings?

    • Every flight booked during the promo period that is flown before 29 April 26.

  • +2

Important to note that their VA-coded flights to Doha are excluded, terms indicate short haul international only.

Still so much more expensive to get status under the new model vs. what we were getting previously.

  • Hmmm. To spend $700 on flights to make Gold, or not 🤔

    • +2

Good for you. I need 400SC to retain gold. So that normally requires $4.8k spend ($2.4k with this offer). Still too steep for me.

  • +4

Because the Sydney Virgin lounge isn’t full and stinky enough.

    • +1

It won't be once the new SC changes take effect and lots of people drop back in Status.

  • I booked a flight last night and spoke to someone at Virgin today. They confirmed for me that as long as I activate the offer it will still apply because I booked within the eligible period.

We shall wait and see if that proves to be true.

  • +1

Where’s the confirmation that it applies to more than one booking? Booked two trips last night after confirming the offer.

    • +3

T&Cs state there is no limit to the number of times the offer can be used within the promo period.

      • Ahh they do indeed. Missed that, cheers

  • Does it work for Virgin bookings made on an OTA?
