Ok, now I want the OzBargain hack for this deal for those of us with other providers.
Anyone know the sign-on / acceptance procedure?

  • "From June 2, eligible Optus Prepaid and Postpaid customers will start to receive their free 12 month offer via email or SMS2. Optus customers can take advantage of the Perplexity Pro offer via their website and will have until 11:59 AEST 31 December, 2025 to redeem their offer."

    And also:
To say thank you for being with Optus, we’ve partnered with Perplexity - an AI-powered search engine to give you 12 months free of Perplexity Pro (RRP $300). This offer is exclusive to Optus customers who sign up for a plan and opt into marketing.

  • So how to optimize chances of being targeted?

Got the deal email. Gimmie $300 off my bills instead of whatever this rubbish is
From memory I think they’re raising their prices too in the next couple of months with their generic excuse of ‘providing better services, etc’. I’m guessing this rubbish is ‘better services’

    • Its run by LNP rejects. In fact, one became the communications minister, reduced carrier security requirements and every customer and employee had their ID stolen and put up for sale on the dark web.

        I know crazy hey?

Not to mention than OpTus is owned by the authoritarian government of Singapore. Yes, an Australian essential service. A major security risk. A service that the Libs say we can't own ourselves, because thats sOciaLiSm. but a cooked
foreign authoritarian government can… who buys our politicians.

That's how fkt this country of ours is.

        • Authoritarian government that's family run from father to son. But unlike democratic Australia, it's not corrupt.

Singapore is efficient, advanced and clean. The people are richer than here whilst having none of our natural resources. Just think on why that is.

  • Is the code unique? Please share if it is generic. Thanks.

    • Yeah it's unique, I think it's "OPT" Followed by 9 digits/characters

  • just signed up :)

    • did you receive the code quickly? I was going to churn my wife off Optus in the next day or 2, but might hold off if I can get this offer

      • *within 45 days

Is this just re-using the chat GPT engine? Also do they keep your search info and resell it to Cambridge Analytica for political advertising?

    • Yes. The same way Lotus cars 'just' re-use Toyota Camry engines.

  • Would love a code if anyone has a spare.

    • Same here. I’d appreciate a code too.

  • Is Perplexity Pro any good?

  • Got the email, but just get "internal error" when trying to activate it :(

    *nevermind, working now

  • If anyone has a spare code to share I'd be really appreciative :-)

  • I don't get this part:
"via an eligible Optus sales channel and who have opted into marketing communications"

If I was to activate a $35 prepaid pack I bought from Woolies would I not be eligible?

  • Can someone share a code please? Need this but I didn't receive the code unfortunately.

I’m not signed up for marketing emails. I just asked for the code in the Optus app chat and they gave it to me 👍

    • Are you on prepaid or postpaid?

      • +1

        I’m prepaid

        • I just tried on prepaid and this is what they are telling me. Do you have any advice about what to ask the team? (in short the person refuses to help)

Hi Lachlan, I'd like to take advantage of your offer of Perplexity pro for optus customers.

I had a check with my team, only the eligible customers will receive the SMS or email to redeem that offer. Its not for all the customers.
          >
I'm sorry if you are eligible you will receive the SMS from the Optus. We do not have an option to redeem it manually from here.

          Lachlan at 11:22, Jun 22:
I'm sorry from here we do not have an option to check the eligibility. The marketing team decides it. If you receive the SMS you can redeem the offer

@safwanc: I recommend you try again in a few hours. Talk to another agent, maybe get a different answer.

          • @safwanc: What prepaid are you? 365?

          • @safwanc: @B00k I also tried today and was told it was only available on monthly plans. Didn't get anywhere pressing them. I'll try again later.

@safwanc did you have any luck?

            • +1

@OZBMate8911: No luck - I gave up after two attempts. I felt like it wasn't worth the time or the pain of speaking to their reps.

              • @safwanc: Damn.

Pain indeed - turns out they had my E-Mail connected to a number I cancelled 5 years ago so I couldn't actually activate my SIM with my main E-Mail - then they had the nerve to tell me they weren't allowed to change it even after I'd verified!

5 years is taking the mick so I told them I was going to report them to OAIC.

They still didn't give me access :(

    • What prepaid are you? 365?

  • Those that have signed up - how long did it take to receive the offer? Were you on a 28 day plan?

I need a new SIM and this 28 day SIM could do the trick

    • On further inspection - you need to sign up for a business plan now. Bugger

Optus consumer and business customers (with a valid ABN/ACN) who sign up to a new eligible mobile plan between 2 June and 31 October 2025
Optus customers who have an existing eligible postpaid or prepaid mobile service as at 2 June 2025.

      • +1

Not necessarily business only, just become a customer between 2 June and 31 Oct and opt in for marketing emails and wait 45 days for the code.
