One for my fellow gut sufferers. This deal will only excite a very specific (and slightly burpy) corner of OzBargain… and we salute you. Not the all-time low, but if you're battling reflux, you know this isn’t something you can put off. This bottle’s become liquid gold, prices are up, stock is patchy and it's rarely this price if available.

Definitely the best version of Gaviscon in my opinion. Quick delivery too, at least in my experience, it was next day.

Just a heads up for people, in my recent analysis of all heartburn medication, Rennie tablets in a 96 pack were the cheapest per dose. I know they don't work as well for bad cases as this stuff, but if you can at all manage your condition it then it works out cheaper (note, almost everything is cheaper at chemist warehouse than anywhere else)

Another trap for young players like myself is there's a difference between standard gaviscon and this dual action the standard is a bit bigger and cheaper but again I presume it doesn't work as well. I also couldn't work out why it's dual action, it's just got higher concentrations of the same stuff in it. I think the dual action was meant to mean it neutralises the acid over timex but it also makes a barrier at the top of your stomach to try to cap the acid off.

Yeah Rennie’s great for basic heartburn, got those little squares in every nook and cranny. And yep, Dual Action’s not just stronger, it’s the alginate + antacid combo that makes the difference.

Wish we could get Gaviscon Advance here in Australia. I hear that stuff’s next level, esp for lpr.

Be careful. Rennie has a lot of calcium carbonate. Excess calcium intake from antacids is not good for you.
It is better to take a product with more alginate. The alginate truns into a foam in contact with stomach acid which helps contain it in the stomach. It is derived from seaweed. If you are just relying on calcium or magnesium carbonate you are just trying to neutralise the acid but it wont stop it from leaking. I found this product much better as it has a high concentration of alginate.

      • I don't use it myself, but the person that does can often manage their heartburn through diet, so it makes it easy for them to pop the odd tablet rather than have to mess around with a liquid at night when it usually comes about

  • Can't get over the taste of the Peppermint flavour, I always buy the Mixed Berry flavour even it's less frequently on sale.

Yeah I wouldn't order either at a restaurant, but I always found the berry stuff easier to locate, although for me it tastes like old school cough medicine.

      • If you're ordering Gaviscon at a restaurant…. I have questions.

        • And the question is…which restaurant offers it, as that would be amazing! Coffee, dessert, shot of Gaviscon?

I found that this product works much better as it has a higher concentration of alginate, which acts as a barrier to stomach acid. I can take one tablet of this versus 2-3 of Gaviscon Extra tablets to get a similar effect. The bottled Gaviscon is inferior as it is diluted with water and has even less alginate. Annoyingly, this is only sold in the US but is in stock on iHerb and Amazon. I usually buy in bulk from iHerb using some regular promo coupons they have, and it typically gets the price to $20-30 AUD per bottle. This honestly was a massive quality of life improvement for me.
