The Ergohuman Ultra Fabric Mesh Combo Chair is the latest from Ergohuman and supersedes the Elite V2 Plus. With an emphasis on value for money, the Ultra chair shares many components with the new Ergohuman 2 Elite.

Adjustment points include:

  • Lumbar Support Firmness adjustment
  • 4 way Armrest adjustment
  • Fabric seat and Mesh Backrest

Their website seems to be super confusing to decipher the difference between chair models, but seems to be a decent price.

If I was in a position where I want to stop buying officework chairs every 2 years, I'd look at this 100% rather than a gaming chair.

    • Is it better than the popular secret lab chairs?

      • We had a whole office of secret lab chairs at home and in office peel. There was a funny photo of all of them lined up. I have the latest Ergo at home and the previous model at work. The newer one is nicer.

isn't this currently cheaper at Temple and Webster?

The Temple and Webster selling is not a genuine Ergohuman. It is a brand call “Milan Direct”. I bought one few years back and it is not good. I end up returning it.

      • +3

        is not a genuine Ergohuman

Are you 100% sure about that, the one on the Milan Direct website looks identical apart from having a chrome wheel base and says Ergohuman on the back. I doubt that they'd sell such a blatant knock off without Ergohuman doing something about it, maybe Milan are agents for Ergohuman.

I asked the guys at Ergohuman about this and they responded.

"The Ultra that they sell is genuine, but its the entry level model that is engineered for a lower price point. Our best seller is the Elite which is the full spec Ergohuman Chair. We actually sell both and have an offer on the Ultra with a longer Warranty and bonus XBlade Wheels than T&W. So you are getting more value."

        • So they very well may identical chairs then? The OP is for Ultra which seems to be the same as T&W chair?

          • +4

@kev98: The difference being the extended warranty and better/different wheels I believe

Using the code TWWT30 at T&W gets it delivered to you for $586. SO about a $110 saving

            • +1

@soupratt: Seems like this may be a better deal! There is always ACCC for warranty issues. And the wheels seem to be the same from what I can tell.

      • This is a load of crap and purely misleading.

You must be new to Ergohuman. There are just different variants.

I have tested the chrome base Ergohuman bought directly from T&W and it was of a high quality.

I dont know if mine was defective but i found these really finicky to adjust. Especially the armrest.
Should definitely try one out before buying.

Is there a way to adjust the lower back lumbar? I find it protruding out too much.

    • +2

Agree, and because it protrudes too much you can't get your arse back enough on the seat, which then leaves your upper legs only half supported .
Also, you can't move the headrest forward and the mesh seat gets very uncomfortable after a while so you end up having to put a cushion on it.
You can't fault it in a reclining position but it's not great for the money when it's totally upright which is most of the time.

      • my one doesn't even have lumbar support tension adjustment, at least this one has it.

  • +2

$200 shipping to TAS is pretty rough, especially when taking a blind gamble on a chair at this price

  • +3

No sale for the Elite version? I'd buy if the Elite was included. Sad panda.

    • Only upgrade to Xblade Wheels

  • Has anyone had issues with a curved base Vs a flat base? I had back issues with a curved mesh base

  • +2

Where is best place to test it out , in Melbourne?

  • Its well worth buying small flexible attachment for a Dyson or equivalent for these chairs, there's considerable dust accumulation under the mesh and its hard to get at with a normal vacuum attachment.

  • +1

They need to run a sale on Luxury and Elite.

    Ultra range misses out on:
    Forearm support
    Less Armrest adjustments
    Uses older 'Elastomeric Mesh'
    Cast Aluminium Chassis
    Polished Aluminium Armrest
    Recline Memory Position
