What's Your Trigger Price for a Radeon RX 9070 (XT or Otherwise) ?

Maybe I'm just ridying the hype-wave but I'm obsessed with getting an RX 9070. The temptation of having something that can give faux-flagship graphics quality at a little over $1000 is so enticing.

What's your trigger price, and for which card in particular?

I'm so keen to pick up one of the Sapphire RX 9070 Nitro+ cards, primarily cuz I have a bit of a Noctua kink, but the more I learn of them the more I think they're just super premium products. The RX 9060 XT will just annoy me. I want some Cyberpunk path tracing…

I'd probably like an RX 9070 non-XT Nitro+ for $950. I know if I saw that today I'd buy immediately. $1249 seems a bit rich, and $1450 for the 9070 XT is a bit of a stretch. And I want my PC to be as quiet as possible so the lower energy consumption on the non-XT is appealing given the same cooling infra. Seems like JUST enough performance with a cooler build. But it needs to come a bit further from the XT price to be good value.

What is everyone else targeting, and how are you going about looking for that bargain?

Going from i7 7700 to Ryzen 7 7700 is neat. Just need a Radeon RX 7700 as well

you can flash RX 9070XT bios onto RX9070 and get more performance.

  • I over paid a bit for my 9070XT Sapphire Pulse ($1250.00). I know, very un-ozbargain of me, but I wanted to get one before supply/demand, scalpers, tarriffs, riots, WWIII, etc. No regrets though, it's a great card for 1440p gaming. I advise a clean install if migrating from NVIDIA.

My opinion is you won't see prices drop anytime soon until supplies increase and demand decreases, maybe 3-6 months down the road, maybe longer. Had I waited, I'd probably have picked up the RTX5070 TI deal posted earlier this week at $1375.00. Glad I didn't though, as I really don't want to support Nvidia at the moment.

  • The supposed Aus RRP of $1139, but tbh I can wait until it (hopefully) hits the ~$1K mark… will be a while yet before that happens though.
