LED/LCD TV 40-47" 100Hz+ with Budget ~$800

Looking to buy an LCD LED TV for around the $800 mark. Was thinking the Sony EX650 46" but it is only 50HZ. For general use of the TV, including some sport, movies, gaming etc, is a 100HZ TV necessary. Am considering the HX750 40" in this price range though would prefer something closer to the 46" size.

Have also looked at a couple of Samsungs. The big question is, what would people suggest in terms of the TV models, and also, if they have any great prices atm. Main thing is price wise needs to be ~$800 or less ($900 at the very most).

  • i'm in the same position as you. i'm considering the 46" EX650 or the 55" EX630 for $997 @ Dick Smith

  • This is the best value for money. I bought this tv 2 weeks ago and i'm loving it.

A LG 47inch LED LCD 100HZ 3D Smart Tv. Comes with 4xHDMI ports and 3xUSB ports and 4 pairs of passive 3d glasses. Connection to the net requires a lg wifi dongle or Ethernet cable.

I have enjoyed this tv and have been playing 3d and 2d games, watching blu ray movies and watching the Australian Open in wonderful quality.

Hope you get a tv you enjoy

    • Yah, I've seen that one on here but I'm thinking that it's no longer available at that price. Hopefully it is though. And it also looks like there is very little (if any) stock available.

      • if it's not in stock go to harvey norman or domayne and price match like i did. I got $20 off that price

        • Harvey Norman has no stock (in my area at least). JB doesn't have it listed on their website so I'll contact them tomorrow. Good guys, I'm assuming they no longer have stock as it's semi-removed from their website. Can't be found via a search. Need the direct link.

EDIT: Looks like there are some stores around (HN) that do have stock.

        • it's still available at good guys, just search this: "lg 47LM6200 good guys" on google

    • i'm looking at this model, it seems great for the price but i'm not sure about the reliability and quality of an LG tv

      • I (personally) would lean to one of the big 3: Sony, Samsung or LG.

  • Does anyone know. Can you record direct to a USB off of these TV's?

    • yeah you can record on the tv that i linked you with. you can record, pause and rewind tv as long as a usb or hard drive is attached to the tv

      • Sweet thanks. Planning on making some calls tomorrow :)

  • From talking to a couple stores today. Good Guys only has stock in Campbelltown and it looks like HN can't price match it as the rebate they were getting on the TV has finished.

    • did you try jb and domayne?

      • JB doesn't have stock. Domayne still sells TV's?

      • Domayne doesn't appear to have any electrical stores in NSW.

  • "Am considering the HX750 40""

I have this TV, I love it. I paid almost 1200 for it in November, it's now down to the 800 mark.

40" was as big as I could go, so I bought what I thought was the best one available. The remote isn't backlit, i think the comparable Samsung was. Also it's been fussy with playing DivX, but I didn't care as I have aWDTV Live. You dont get any 3D glasses for it either, you have to buy the overpriced Sony ones separately. Other than that I cant fault it.

I've sold a few HX750/850 thru work, they have all been great.

  • Got one at $795. Done deal :)
