Decent (Doesn't Have to Be The Cheapest) Mobile Carrier on Telstra Network

As the title suggests.

I'm happy to pay slightly more for better service but Telstra have been dropping the ball on both fronts lately. Huge prices and rubbish support.

Has anyone got any suggestions for a new provider for me? I generally buy my mobiles outright, I have no need for international roaming, has to be on a Telstra network, prefer decent support if you need to talk to someone.

So far I have come across Belong and Boost as reasonable options but most people are only comparing prices, not what the companies are like to deal with.

Any opinions?

Cheers

Glad to say I’ve been using belong for two sims for years and never had issues or regretted moving down from telstra. What kind of issues were you having?

With telcos , You can also lodge TIO case when the outcome has been unsatisfactory.

    • Awesome, thanks mate. I know a couple of people on Belong and they have no bad reports.

I've been on boost for years. No issues. Pretty sure the customer service team are the same as telstra - whether that's good or bad thing, that's up to you I guess

I've been on boost for years. No issues.

They are as bad as Telstra for customer service these days…

Good luck trying to get them to fix an issue… It's like they deliberately go out of their way to make things difficult for you…

You think the Filipinos care about you that much?

        • Yes

    lately ???????

  • @OP … @Spic3y …

Please explain why you are only limiting to Telstra MVNO's.
That limits you to like 6-8 providers.

Then you also say "decent support".
Which littles the numbers down to just 2.

6-8 isn’t enough? You’d like more to choose from?

Telstra MVNO’s are probably the best bang for buck in the Australian market. Do you have any candidates to dethrone them?

I do have 2 in mind (1 of which I am with) … But are Optus MVNO's.

I live quite remote, literally our only option is the Telstra network.

  • SpinTel? Swoop?

I personally don’t like Optus because at a couple of locations I regularly travel to they offer poor coverage, though for others this wouldn’t be the case.

  • I was on Boost Mobile for years and they slowly increased the price. Switched to Kogan (Vodafone network), noticed the intermittent internet unavailability when it wasn't the case with Boost Mobile. Switched back to Boost Mobile after only a month with Kogan. Was considering Aldi 365 days plan as well but Boost had better promotion with cashback.

  • Been with Belong for over 5 years, no issues at all. I have around 3tb of data hoarded so I’m not going anywhere. Support have been fine the 1 or 2 times I’ve had to use it 🤷‍♂️

  • I have 10 year's experience with Aldi with 4 family phones. Note this does not have coverage in some remote areas. Never had a significant problem. Minor issues (operator error relayed) were resolved quickly. Very good pricing.

  • Telstra Prepaid 365 day plan also isn't a terrible option if you don't use a disgusting amount of data, comes out to approximately $30-$40/month

  • We've got 5 x Boost plans in our place, all pre-paid 28 day Sims/eSims. Been using Boost since they started.
    Never had an issue.

Also, recently got a Belong Data Plan (Due to Telstra no longer offering their L/100gb Data only plan) in a Netgear Nighthawk M6 router, hasn't faltered in 3 months.
    And cheaper !

  • Boost, Woolies, Aldi. If you go on their long life plans then it should work out to be below $30/month.
