    Anyone considering a battery in future should really be looking for a hybrid invertor. And when doing so, keep in mind that not all batteries are compatible with all invertors, so get an invertor that works with affordable batteries.

      Further to this -

      Ensure you are buying enough panels that cover your usage during the day + surplus to be able to charge a battery. Otherwise no point

        …and remembering that the advertised capacity is the peak capacity. In Perth, a 6.5kW setup peaks at 4kW in winter.

      you do not need a hybrid inverter to get a battery, you can retrofit a battery to most inverters using AC Coupling. It is also less restrictive than a hybrid inverter because you aren't locked into using a limited number of compatible batteries.

        But it means an additional inverter, and loss of efficiency because you convert DC to AC back to DC…..

    Hi Scott - I'm a satisfied customer of yours from a couple of years back. In hindsight I wish I went a hybrid inverter but I really never saw the rebate coming. I think there would be plenty of people in my shoes - if you could put together a deal for an inverter upgrade + batteries I think it could do really well. I'd be very interested!!

          Most people wouldn't pay the extra for the hybrids as they are quite a deal more, and in many respects you are limited to what you can connect is some cases. So, it was a dilemma. But yes, we've got some deals coming soon… with nice, new hybrids.

    I have about 8kw system now on an standard inverter

    I would like another 6.6kw system + battery (at least 15kw) and I'll need a hybrid inverter. Single Storey, tile roof, Brisbane.
