Hi Guys,
We need to replace our aging electric oven urgently and need some recommendations from experts here. There are some good bargains during EOFY and need to grab a deal.
Preferably a good brand like Bosch or Westinghouse
- Budget ideally around$600- $700 on a 60cm electric oven.
- How much would be the electrician installation?
- I found out there’s basic electric oven and there’s steam cleaning. Does steam cleaning really work to clean?
- Other functions like air frying etc does it really work? We got the portable air fryer but not sure if electric ovens works.
- Are there any must have functions that we s good to have?
Below I got some options from Goodguys as I need to get this on interest free Lattitude card.
Clicking price beat is giving me cheaper rates.

Budget - Some of the ovens linked are outside of this budget by a lot at $899 or $999? If you want simple function and performs well, there is the Bosch HBF133BS0A at $799.
Any electrician can install these ovens, usually around $250 including removal of the old oven so just call around.
No proper steam cleaning at this price point, there is just misleading marketing of what is just adding water to the bottom of the oven and turning on the elements to create steam and soften up the fat/oil which any oven can do.
Bosch ovens will at least have a self cleaning linear on the rear of the ovens (Eco Clean) at this price point though so at least some form of actual cleaning assistance.
Air-Fry does not perform well at this price, your bench-top units will be faster / more convenient. The Westinghouse for example, requires pre-heating and the results aren't great.
The Bosch recommendation is because the ovens are manufactured in a Bosch factory in Poland, the European Standards are much higher ( eg.They have energy efficiency standards for ovens! ) so these ovens have good insulation and cook well, even the basic models can cook on 3 levels at the same time which is why they call their Fan Forced setting "3D Hot Air".
Your account shows you are in Sydney, so you might be able to find recent clearance models of Bosch which are Pyrolytic (Self Cleaning) HBA172BB0A or HBA172BS0A at The Good Guys for under $800. At the time of posting this, Moore Park might have a display model or Marsden Park looks to have stock.
The only thing to check is if your old oven is a plug-in ( 10amp ) which is often found in older properties due to power limitations. Otherwise avoid the base models such as the $599 Bosch or $549 Westinghouse, Omega's etc. as they do not have a bottom heating element. So cooking something like a Pizza, Quiche or just anything that needs bottom heat is a struggle. The higher models and majority of the market will be hardwired and "multifunction" so no issues.
If you are unsure, you might be able to find the model number located on the door of the oven or around the oven cavity when the door is opened.
