Vertical Heated Towel Rail - Do They Actually Work?

Hi OzBargainers,

Just wondering if anyone has installed vertical heated towel rails in their bathroom. Do they actually dry towels effectively? How do they compare to the traditional horizontal ladder-style rails?

Thanks!

  • Haven't used one myself, was looking at them a while ago, and think the vertical ones would work better, as more of the towel is exposed to heat. But YMMV.

We got a ladder one in our renovated bathroom and it was pointless. Used it a few times and then never turned it on ever again

  • We have one, but doesn’t get used very much. You need to wrap it across every bar for it to be somewhat warm

it warms the towel, it doesnt dry.

how does hot water exist, if heating the water makes it disappear, water evaporates into dry air, or by heating it above its boiling point, not by warming it slightly.

  • Here's a tip, I use my electric blanket for drying wet clothes, works a treat.

  • A vertical towel rail?

Doesn't the towel fall down onto the floor?

  • When travelling we’ve used these to dry clothes like underwear and socks in Air BnBs. However you need to run them almost continually for a couple of days.
