Perfect to store in the fridge and take out when you want them to ripen. They last weeks in the fridge
some decay while green from these bulk deals, doesnt happen to my woolies avos
Everyone says that, but I've bought the 'odd bunch' ones from WW, and left them in the fridge. For three weeks.
You cut them open and they look nice and green/yellow, but still hard as a rock. I've found that if you slice them open lengthwise and then leave them for a few days they soften, but that's a lot of foresight to be putting towards avacados
just put them inside uncooked rice (fully covered) and that will speed up ripening.
Putting them in the fridge unripe has never worked out for me.
I've found that letting them ripen in the fruit bowl and then storing them in the fridge (in cellophane packets that supermarkets use for salad and other fresh produce) keeps them good to use for about 1-2 weeks, but I'll be using them for guacamole in that second week.
My chef mate wraps them in tinfoil then submerges them in hot water for 5 mins. The flesh becomes soft and malleable for use.
Obviously flavour isn’t the same as natural ripening but when you’re trying to run a cafe and your only option is rock hard avocados you do what you must.
If you're in NSW, Harris Farms has them (imperfect) for $2.49 a kilo this weekend
Really good value. They may look small, but the seeds are small too, meaning you get a good flesh to seed ratio.
I find the more modern metric mandarins have 10 segments and a slightly better flavour….
Just had a look at them, didn't get any. They're Hass avos, pretty small and hard…good in maybe a week?
Do they sell mushrooms?
Mushroom box $10
Smashed avo here I come!
It's hard to smash rocks.
Hass or shepherd?
Are they any good?
Too often with the bulk avocado deals, the avacados are hard as a rock and never really soften
