Great time to be into strobist tech.

Can’t believe I used to make do back in the day with a hacked together nissin / 2 x sb600 setup with flash wave 3 triggers.

It's amazing. I've got a 3 flash setup with the godox gear and they're stupidly cheap for the tech you get can't recommend them highly enough.

Back in the day I was rocking a stupidly expensive setup of 4 x Pocket Wizards and 3 x Sunpak 555s. Think it cost me like ~$2.5K shipped over from B&H. Even more if you wanted to use SB800s for TTL.

Can now get an equivalent setup now for ~$900.

  • I bought the cheapest Godox flash a while back which is head and shoulders above the built in flash on normal cameras. If I used it more often I'd totally get this for the rechargeable battery option and other improvements

  • Compared to the traditional brands, Godox is great value.

  • how does this compare to Godox V1 Pro Round Head TTL Speedlite Flash ?

    • I would go for the V1 or the 860III, or straight to the V100 which I did recently for its 100w output.

With 1.7 sec Recycling Time, you'll never be Waiting For Godox!

  • I thought the shipping was the price, I have no idea what it does, was gonna to buy it anyway.

    I think it's bed time.

  • Are there any better options for around the same price?

What on camera don’t trigger would you recommend so this can be used off camera remotely? Any standard/cheap godox trigger like the x1R?

  • When do you need this and when IT30 Pro?

      Plenty of uses.

IT30 - small / compact for generic low light portraits etc.

V480 - low light indoors anywhere you can bounce

IT30 + V480 - run it30 as a trigger and have V480 as off axis main light. Use it30 as a fill. Or use V480 as a bounced main light and off camera IT30 as a hair light etc
