Garmin Venu X1 Fitness Watch, Did You See The Price

want to see ozbers outrage at this new Venu watch.

what:
it's light (40g) it's thin (but crap battery life of 7~8 days Smart mode, 2 days with AOD) and big screen.
it has flashlight, like Instinct/Fenix but looks smaller and not as bright. yah.
garmin pay, yes ok so does my $99 Venu SQ.
it has full offline maps. I thought ok cool.
storage 32GB. ok fine for a entry level series watch.

Release Price?

$1499.

WHO WANTED THIS.

should also say, even if it is very unpopular, and price is halved to $750 I think it's still overpriced.

everything I was seeing was good for like a new version of the Venu.

for square Venu SQ release price was like $250, Venu SQ 2 $400.
Venu 3 was $750 (overpriced imo).

now they want more than a Apple Watch Ultra 2. ($1350~$1550)
the only thing better than on AWU2 is you can use Garmin with Android?
they even made the design and battery life match the Ultra 2. on a Garmin, why?!

  • Agree, the latest range pricing is wild. Forerunner 970 RRP is 40% higher than 965.

For this one, according to DC rainmaker, this is a blend between a FR970 + Fenix 8, so makes sense to be priced between those 2 .. So claims while the pricing is wild, its consistently wild……

they also keep changing the naming. and also change what some old models were about such as MIP display which was good for battery life.

I think someone said the 570 is the successor to the 265. could have called it the 275 but they probably think upselling is more important. (ok I just searched Garmin 275 and they have like a GPS thingey that's got the same name, maybe that's why)

also not sure why the newer Instinct models with MIP have way less battery life than the old ones. because of all the more advanced health tracking? I don't think so.
also I've been researching Garmin's on and off lately for a modern but not crazy watch for elderly family member, who often doesn't notice battery % and forgets to charge.
new Instinct E is meant to be a budget model (not very because price) replacement for the previous Instinct 2. but Instinct 2 gets 28 days, new Instinct E? 14 to 16 days. how does the battery life get cut in half on the new model, I expect it to actually be better. (both non Solar models btw)

      • Yes it's not that Instinct E has an AMOLED display. The good ol MIP but only gets up to 14 days in smartwatch mode and only 21 hours in GPS mode? I thought it's for people doing multiple days of trekking.

And Venu X1 only gets 8 days of smartwatch mode and 16 hours of GPS. Very underwhelming for a $1,500 watch. I guess it's justifiable when you are making Apple Watch Ultra your competition.

        • I don't like when they do this. they deliberately nerf the lowest model of the series to upsell the others.

I was going to wait for a deal on the Instinct E because I heard the MIP has a great improvement in visibility (in all conditions) compared to the old Instinct 2 (I think it's like laminated glass on the pricier iPad's).
which matters for the elderly family member they want the time always visible in all conditions and it would be better if they didn't have to trigger the light.

also for how much they are priced I half expected the Instinct E to have Solar as standard. but then it probably makes the AMOLED Instinct 3 look bad because it has no solar.

I guess it's justifiable when you are making Apple Watch Ultra your competition.

yeah in a weird way I think they wanted to pull away some AW Ultra customers because AW is a top seller globally apparently ("look what we did, it's the Ultra but better" - except they overlooked iphone users can do everything on their AW such as type, dictate, apple maps is better, tap to pay, sure i'm forgetting something but on the X1 they are losing half the features), but when you compare the X1 to all other garmin's, it's a huh what moment.
