Looking for a gas lift storage bed with a stable head board so it the bed head doesn't move when sitting on the bed with my back against the head. Everything I have looked at seems to have a bed head that wobbles. Solid timber preferably. Willing to spend for something good and stable that will last years

I'm assuming you edited this because you realised that you aren't getting solid timber for under $1k.
Beds can be cheap, but they come at a tradeoff.
Why does it have to be gaslift? the tradeoff with gas lift is usually the mattress is sitting on a flat piece of wood, which not only creates a great environment for mould but impacts the efficacy of the mattress itself.
Can you just get one that has slats and pullout drawers?

Gas lift for storage, convenience of access and easy to clean. Have tried pull out drawers and gas lift both and definitely prefer gas lift for my case. The ones I have in my guest bedroom are from Temple and Webster which have slats. But that is a cheap bed with no possibility of leaning back against the head rest without it bending significantly.
Looking for one for the master bedroom now
@Bargainolic - in a similar position mate. What did you end up deciding on?
if such a thing exists that isnt an alibaba special , i would be interested too - but preliminary search i did some time ago suggests no. We got a gas lift bed from ozplaza some years ago and I could never recommend it, flimsy AF - I ended up bracing it out with some metal strips I had left over from a project but it didnt really help.
